I think I posted this in the wrong place before("The Lounge?")...I hope this is the appropriate place to post it...

Hello!

I came across this site doing an online search of what kind of options I may have on Vancouver Island for getting into this business! I live in Nanaimo, I was unable to find anything that looked decent to work at/for during my online search...But then again, I dont really know what is standard! Can anyone help me to navigate this? I have absolutely no experience doing this! I am a nice lady, I dont use/abuse any substances! Anyone willing to take me under their wing? Make me their project? Please let me know!

All the Best,

???
(I dont even have a "work name" yet!)

Actually, you were right the first time by posting in the Lounge.
The 411 area is for asking for information about a particular service provider.
But don't worry. You'll get the hang of it.

Nanaimo is a difficult location, it seems. There is no standard, but the town could certainly use a good service provider.

There are few dependable local independents to ask advice from, and not a great deal of information on the local agencies posted on this board -- ladies'n'lace, allpro, blackorchid. You can google their websites, and you can also search "Nanaimo" on this board to get an idea of the basic situation. Maybe Good Gloria would provide advice? Couldn't hurt to ask. Or some of the travelling ladies from Victoria that come to town occasionally? The advice from the travelling lady who replied to your post in the lounge is excellent for Vancouver or Victoria, but may be more difficult to implement in Nanaimo.

It could also depend on your situation or a niche market you would hope to capture -- if you are a young hottie, or a mature lady; the extent of services you want to offer -- from massage to a girlfriend experience.....it would all affect the type of questions you will want answered.

Craigslist advertisements in Nanaimo always include a number of sketchy types that gentlemen avoid unless they have a good reputation from elsewhere.

I have also heard rumours that the sex industry in Nanaimo is less tolerated by the authorities than in larger cities; I don't know if that is true; you really do need to contact other ladies to be sure you know the situation.

Thanks for all the advice! I'm not sure if I'm a "young hottie" or a "mature lady?" I'm 26 years old...Maybe I'm in the middle? I did look on craigslist before coming here, but I find that frightening...I was hoping to find out of a "safer route" for this. MAybe an "on-location" sort of job? That's what I cant seem to find anything about in Naanimo though! I would be willing to travel to Victoria, or other places on the island(maybe even the occasional trip to the big city of Vancouver) on occasion though!

You should contact Harvi of VIP. I think she might be willing to help you. She certainly could answer lots of your questions. You could even send her a private message here on PERB.

Definitely call Ladies n' Lace my dear! They're the most reputable service in Nanaimo, and have been there the longest. They actually care about their ladies, and treat them respectfully. All locally lady owned and operated too, you can't go wrong. They screen their clients well too! Good luck.

Try looking in the local phone books, thats where you're going to find reputable, liscensed, above the board agencies. Talk to someone who wants to talk to you in person, and is willing to meet with you and answer all of your questions before you actuallt start. Don't settle for anything less.

You're getting lots of good suggestions - if you want to work in Victoria rather than nanaimo call harvi at VIP and listen to what she has to say then perhaps talk to some of the others if you want some comparison. This is "your" business and you want someone who will work hard for your business.
