Can't help but think that if those two had been working out of the same shared incall, they may be with us today. Our laws are so perverse.

bsolutely sickened by this. 2 dead in less than 2 weeks in the same building WTF is going on.
RIP jill lyons and karen nabors. My condolenses to the ladies families and their friends inside and outside the industry.
To all the other ladies out there stay safe/ play safe.
Hopefully they figure out the person(s) involved and incarcerate them. Get the person(s) responsible for this behind bars and off the streets
Indeed. I heard this late last night and was sickened and saddened by the news. Please be careful, everyone. The cops haven't caught these bastards yet...so watchout for one another.

It's so heartbreaking. Everyone wants privacy, but transparency is the only thing that really keeps us all safe. What to do, as I cry into my coffee cup here this morning.

I'm especially disturbed that no mention of the first murder even hit the media. What the fuck is with that? Who called emergency services? And how long were each of the ladies deceased before they were found? How did Tianna deal with Jennifer's murder? Who knew these ladies? Clearly, someone here on this board or others was in touch with these ladies, somehow, somewhere, at sometime. None of us works as a complete island, no matter how hard we try...

Sorry for the rant, I'm just so upset, it's hard enough to post and work, but it's even hard to go to the square job at times like these.

With a broken heart...

I am here.
Someone early in this thread said, "Here we go again."

It is almost 5 years to the day that Honey was murdered in Burnaby. Her "boyfriend" was convicted of manslaughter in that case and sentenced to 7 years, as I recall.

There was a second provider murdered in Vancouver around the same time. I can't remember her name.

It is never easy to lose a family member, and these women are all related to us through our industry connection, by murder. I have known three women, including Honey, who have been murdered.

My thoughts are with these ladies' immediate family.

Alex I hear and feel your pain, I sent you big huge hugs. I never heard of the first either, but that's not to say it wasn't reported on. We don't know what was found in either case, and the police aren't about to risk their case by saying too much at this point. Their past record aside, we have to let this play out before passing too much judgement. They were waiting on toxicology reports on the first case before using the term murder, but as of the 11 o'clock news last night they are saying they seem to be linked, so something found has lead them to that conclusion. Lets hope and pray, they get to the bottom of it sooner than later.

I think SPs should all have a buddy or two, you make an apt with someone and text the buddy with the time, name and phone #, after first making sure the # checks out. Then a follow up text to say you are safe.

re media calls:

i have heard complaints from a number of workers about receiving calls from media asking questions which are inappropriate and un-nerving.

if you receive a call and are uncomfortable answering the media, simply tell them you are busy or have no comments and hang up. you do not have to speak to them unless you feel safe doing so.

This is extremely sad, but is it 100% sure there was foul play involved? Have they ruled out drug overdose, or suicide? They say "foul play", but what does that mean exactly? Has there been any updates? Thanks, this is heartbreaking and I feel terrible for them and their families.

The business has been going sour lately I've noticed, tons and tons of crazies calling/texting more than usual...its like playing Russian Roulette, guys want total privacy and no one else in the building for "their safety"...which will never happen, I would never work without someone close by for MY SAFETY. And make use of call block apps ladies, and save numbers of the repeat offenders who seem fussy/difficult with booking and ask crazy questions, or are just WOTs - and BLOCK them. I have over 400 numbers blocked already in just a 6 month period...it's becoming a real hassle.

From http://www.theprovince.com/news/escorts+found+dead+same+West+building/8835717/story.html:

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was consulted after the Lyons’ death, said spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Pound. IHIT took over after the second death due to the similar nature and locations of both cases.

“There are similarities between the two deaths, but it is still too early to link them conclusively,” said Pound.

Police are awaiting toxicology results for both women to identify cause of death. Autopsy results for Lyons were inconclusive.

Google News is showing a number of stories with more information.

http://www.newwestnewsleader.com/news/221344271.html:

After the news came out on Monday, Kate Gibson, executive director of the WISH Drop-In Centre Society for sex-trade workers, told CBC News police should have warned the public after Lyons was found. She said similar situations of police not stepping up have occurred in Vancouver, and if New Westminster police and IHIT had issued a warning earlier maybe they could have prevented a second death.

Pound responded to the concerns by issuing a press release Tuesday in which she said, "As police officers we are morally, ethically and legally responsible to balance the protection of the public and the integrity of the investigation. In cases, where suicide is a possibility, there is particular emphasis on the protection of information in order to be empathetic and understanding to the sensitive issues that surround some of our cases."

The release said although the evidence at first appeared Lyons' death was a suicide, the NWPD continued to process the scene as a suspicious death.

Some new information from another resident in the building: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news...stminster-apartment-building/article13963150/

I am here.
News on CBC about an hour ago suggested that the first woman to die was first thought to have committed suicide. That is why the police did not make much of an issue of it.

Only with the second death in the same building are they considering it may be foul play.

Having said that, rumours get started very easily when those like me do not know the facts.

Excellent points, Lo-ki, with all the unpleasantness, I guess we just didn't think of that aspect...

Sorry for all the posts, folks, I just got in and wanted to respond, as I read the comments in the thread...
