Now, I can admit that I have not done a review for every SP I have had the pleasure of meeting. Part of that is selfish since I don't like to share low volume SP's intel just in case they get too busy to see me, or they have a dedicated following that are unable to handle the slightest criticism of their personal fav.

That is my choice whom I do a write up about here. I do contribute when I feel so motivated but at least I kick in a review or two every now and then for all to see.

Yes badbadboy, that is quite the rant, and to some extent, deservedly so. There are some of the Newbies who tend to kind of start off on the wrong foot.
However, we can't scare them all away either. Maybe the Newbies that have PM'd you should have instead posted something in an appropriate forum to ask the board as a whole if they have any intel on a specific SP or MP. They need to start somewhere, as we all did.

I agree with your thoughts on pointers on how to get started; getting a few posts and the odd review under their belt to build up some basic cred that way.

Just my thoughts, as nonsensical they may sound.

That's one of the reasons why I've shutdown my PM to just those on my Contact list plus Admin/Mods...and that Contact list is only those I trust or SPs I've seen. I found there were too many non-posting members trying to get back-channel info from me, or asking me about SPs they could get from researching the board themselves.

If some newbie wants to know where Ginormous "Tittled" Lady is working, just man up and post it in a forum instead of PMing me on the sly. I`m not on PERB that often anymore, so by posting it publicly, someone else can provide that answer.

But I used to get questions like if certain SPs were offering me extra unadvertised services. If someone with 0 posts and no PERB history is asking me this, how am I to know it`s her MP manager? or a rival SP? or a jealous ex-bf? or the po-po trying to bust her?

Ok not a big deal but case in point. The other night I was chatting to you in the Chat area and I got an invitation to a private chat. I entered it and it was a guy from the States looking for a $.5/hour lady in the DT Vancouver area. I don`t visit $.5/hr ladies ever. I told him politely to do some research and ask me later. He has zero posts here and it was a bit annoying to me that since I am in Vancouver I would know every low cost price point SP. I pointed him to a few MP`s in and around Vancouver/Burnaby and he kept persisting. I eventually just bailed on the Chat that evening.

That is what I am talking about, still confused?

I agree 100%. Anyone I have not chatted with doesn't get any info from me. Even those I have pm'd with in the past won't get service info from me other than what the lady publicly advertises, and then I only advise if the value was worth the investment, not the actual services I might have received. Again, I think it is always YMMV so from that perspective I keep that info at a low level.

Yes I was a rookie at first, but I made my way up by just doing simple research and being polite. Its also good to have a reference from a trusted Sp or Perm member

When I was a noob, I was lucky to meet guys like BOBST, luv-em-n-lv-em and sushiman in the chat. They freely offered me a lot of great, useful and invaluable guidance and insight. I hope that each one of them knows just how much I appreciated what they were willing to pass along. I really miss the near nightly chats with them and the handful of others that used to make that part of the routine. Remembering how helpful that was as a noob, I've always tried to pay that forward to anyone who asked for guidance in the chat. I've also tried to help as best as I can with 411 queries, either openly on the forum or by PM, if it was about someone I believed that I could offer some insight about. So, while I understand frustration about inappropriate questions, I've never minded being broached about general vancouver knowledge since I am a Vancouver guy and am at least somewhat versed with the scene. I might not have a precise answer but I will at least try to steer them in the right direction.

But just a note to those who would now start sending me PMs -- I'm notoriously bad about clearing my inbox and you might not be able to reach me Having said that, if you catch me in chat, I will happily try to help.
