The Grind

Gee, I wonder what David Wilcox was thinking about?!?

your baby is a good cook
his baby has a cool look
her baby wrote a great book
but my baby does the grind

she does the grind
she does it all the time
she satisfies my mind
my baby does the grind

your baby drives a fast car
his baby looks like a movie star
her baby went too far
but my baby does the grind

she does the grind
she does it all the time
I walk the line
my baby does the grind

your baby is a real flash
his baby talks too much trash
in god we trust
all the rest pay cash but

my baby does the grind
all the time
she's mine...all mine
my baby does the grind

Countdown Neil Peart

If I'm ever feeling down, this is a song that never fails to cheer me up.
From the Rush album: Signals.

Lit up with anticipation
We arrive at the launching site
The sky is still dark, nearing dawn
On the Florida coastline

Circling choppers slash the night
With roving searchlight beams
This magic day when the super-science
Mingles with the bright stuff of dreams

Floodlit in the hazy distance
The star of this unearthly show
Venting vapours like the breath
Of a sleeping white dragon

Crackling speakers, voices tense
Resume the final count
All systems check, T minus nine
As the sun and the drama start to mount

The air is charged- a humid motionless mass
The crowds and the cameras,
The cars full of spectators pass
Excitement so thick- you could cut it with a knife
Technology- high on the leading edge of life

The earth beneath us starts to tremble
With the spreading of a low black cloud
A thunderous roar shakes the air
Like the whole world exploding

Scorching blast of golden fire
As it slowly leaves the ground
Tears away with a mighty force
The air is shattered by that awesome sound

Like a pillar of cloud, the smoke lingers
High in the air
In fascination- with the eyes of the world
We stare...

Written after the first launch of the space shuttle Columbia...damn, I was just into junior high then! As a non-believer, this is about as uplifting as I've found. Us humans might just have enough monkey ingenuity to avoid racial self-destruction. (Maybe!)

Joey Ramone died 5 years ago (April 15, 2001). RIP

Beat on the brat
Beat on the brat
Beat on the brat with a baseball bat
Oh yeah, oh yeah, uh-oh.

What can you do?
What can you do?
With a brat like that always on your back
What can you do? (lose?)

Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter
Oh, a storm is threat'ning
My very life today
If I don't get some shelter
Oh yeah, I'm gonna fade away

War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away

Ooh, see the fire is sweepin'
Our very street today
Burns like a red coal carpet
Mad bull lost its way

War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away

Rape, murder!
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away

Rape, murder!
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away

Rape, murder!
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away

The floods is threat'ning
My very life today
Gimme, gimme shelter
Or I'm gonna fade away

War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
I tell you love, sister, it's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
Kiss away, kiss away
