Lots of houses in my new neighborhood have icicles.
This is BAD and means your ceiling is leaking heat into your attic. Long term you will get ice dams and damage to your roof. Thousands of $$ to repair.
Get your attic insulated asap, you can rent an Attic Cat spray machine from Home Depot and get a reimbursement from MB Hydro.

Add to that a proper ventilation of the roof space .
