We had very cool tram trolleys going up and down Granville St, before the over-crowded transit buses of today!

I remember when.................. I actually had to go home to make, or wait for a phone call. And where I grew up.... I might have had to wait for the neighbor to get off the phone before I could use it! And Im only in my mid 40s!! The world changes fast! Kids used to read books and play outside too! It was ok to break your arm climbing trees or racking out on your bike...or jumping in mud puddles on the walk to school...part of growing up it was!.....now its carpel tunnel from xbox.Sometimes I wish we could regress to a time when things were a little simpler....sometimes.

I remember gas at 39 cents a gallon. For all you who can't convert that's under 10 cents a litre.

I remember the Sky Pub at the end of 3 road. Seeing a perfect 10 hottie naked for the first time.

She inspired me for life. Not to be a stripper. LMAO

Just to do better at all things in life to attract women that looked like that!

I remember when Big Macs at Mcdonalds had a cardboard ring around the burger to hold it together because it was so massive. And I remember when they were delicious! Now, not so much.

I also remember ( I was a suburban kid) the way the Port Mann was lighted...was a neat looking bridge at night, though I did remember also trippingout on the lights as we drove over it...

Nothing open on Sundays....

Playing street hockey until the street lights came on, or until Mum called you in finally, hockey sticks made of wood, with straight blades, then curved...

Joe Paopao, Doug and the Slugs, Jim Robson on the radio, LG73 and CFUN playing rock, A&W drive ins, SeaFest, Canuck games at the Colliseum, Woodward's Food Floor, window displays in New West, Hyack Festival, Expo, Bill Bennett, Vander Zalm and the abortion issue, Fantasy Gardens...No internet, no home computers unless you had a Commodore 32 or wathever it was, Atari, Intellivision, Defender, Space Invaders, listening to StreetHeart, Heart, AC/DC, Loverboy, Van Halen on tapes and records bought at A&A Records, jeans at Bootlegger or the Bay...or Army and Navy...GWG Scrubbies...Levi's, Big Blue...North Star runners with the more strips you had on them the faster you ran...

bikes with hockeycards in the spokes, probably worth a few bucks instead of sacrificing the doubles of Gretsky and Gordie Howe's last seasons to make that noise...

Starsky and Hutch lunch box, Six Million Dollar Man, SWAT, CHiPS..

.Don Irwin hockey analysis, developing an early hate-on for the Maple Leafs as that was the only hockey team on Hockey Night...Sportpage...MacKeachie...Bernie Pascal...Racing at WEstwood, Langley Speedway Oval....Mission of course...4X4 ing on Burke Mountain, burnaby Mountain, Sand Castle competition in White Rock, Bathtub races...

8 Tracks! Good one!........ There was ALWAYS something jammed in alongside them to make them play right, be it a pen, your comb, or like mentioned above the most common folded up piece of whatever you could find. It sucked if you had a tape with only one song on it you liked, you were always changing channels(4 of them) to loop back around to it so you could hear it again..it really forced you to listen to other songs on the tape.It also really sucked when it fucked up and you pulled it out of the stereo and half the tape itself was fouled inside and hanging out of the tape! Then along came cassettes and fast forward! I got a boner when I realized some stereos had music search! you could fast forward and it would automatically stop at the next song..Rahoo!! When CD's came on the scene, I pretty much blew my load when I realized I could skip to the next tune instantly!!!!

Gawd, my brother loved those shows! Remember 'Johnny West'? Or that one that was puppets? I was reeeally young then.

Red Skelton, The Avengers ('thing' gave me nightmares)

When there was a such thing as 'sports day' at school and the whole school was involved including parents and for at least two weeks before the event kids split up into their houses and worked on giant signs, and decorations....and people didn't get stupid ribbons for '28th place' lol!

does anyone remember what a 'malted' was?

Little Olly's malt stand in the Richmond Mall...(when Sears was Simpson Sears)

Yeah, real glasses and a metal spoon...no one seemed to worry about theft.

I remember walking horses at the Landsdown track before there was a mall, when it was past the edge of Richmond and there were trees everywhere.

then the Stardust roller rink went in across the street and the buses didn't go all the way there late at night...typical Richmond buses.

You mean Jonny Quest ...

Perhaps the greatest cartoon theme opening of all time ... Jonny Quest

Does anyone remember The Texan, it was a fast food joint right before you entered Stanley Park. We'd ride our bikes from East Van across the new Georgia Viaduct and do a few laps around the park. Stop in at The Texan and get 5 ice cream cones for 25 cents ... and they were soooooo good.

Great thread everyone, thank you for the good memories.

I remember when Keds runners were 99 cents at Fields across from Woodwards.
I remember when A&B Sound on Seymour Street was THE place to go to for records and cassette tapes.
I remember when Kotex was an incredible thick pad and it also made great elbow pads for rollerskating.
I remember when Volkswagen came out with the Rabbit (kinda like the Golf).
I remember when Elvis died.
I remember when The Bay City Rollers' Saturday Night song was a hit.
I remember when French Cut Jeans and clogs were a fashion hit. Sigh.
I remember when Army & Navy had their $1.49 day Tuesday.
I remember when bus fare was 10 cents.
I remember when Pong was a big arcade game.
I remember when women wore pointy bras.
I remember when the Canucks played at the Pacific Coliseum and the rink boards were free of advertising.
I remember when Canada had the capital punishment. F*ck I wish they brought it back... yeah, I know... it's been discussed already.

Peace.
