bathing suit from the weight that I have gained! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to lose weight rather quickly? I don't want to hear about good nutrition and exercise because I am already doing that. It is in my jeans, per say, to be bigger and I am going to fight it anyway that I can before it is too late. I think that I need to shock my system to bring it back to where it was before. Has anyone heard anything on Ephedra? Those that have seen me can add 15lbs on that and that is what I am now.

Miracle Drug...Trust Me It Works....

Hey Eden I read your help post and seriously this helped me, I lost 75lbs in a year on this stuff, also accompanied with exercise.

I used as well as still use a drug called Ephidrine you can get it any body building supply store as well a fat burner called T2's. Combine these 2 together and go about your daily routine or activity and you will see results in a matter of a week to 2 weeks. Before I started using these, I was at a horrible weight, but the inches and weight dropped off after using these. Hope this helps ya out. But then again this tactic may not be for everyone, but IMHO it worked wonders for me.

South Beach diet

I went on the South Beach diet and lost 10 lbs in one week and a total of 24 lbs in 2 months. I don't know how fast you want to lose it but from what I understand the quicker it comes off, the quicker it goes back on.:)

Ephedra is VERY dangerous. It has been linked to many deaths in the States and has been banned by the US FDA

"The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advises consumers to stop using dietary supplements containing ephedra. In order to protect consumers, the FDA published a final rule on April 12, 2004, that bans the sale of dietary supplements containing ephedrine alkaloids.

After a careful review of the available evidence about the risks and benefits of ephedra in supplements, the FDA found that these supplements present an unreasonable risk of illness or injury to consumers. The data showed little evidence of ephedra's effectiveness, except for short-term weight loss, while confirming that the substance raises blood pressure and stresses the heart. The increased risk of heart problems and strokes negates any benefits of weight loss.
"

What has worked for me is a low- to no-carb diet - no bread or pasta (basically anything made with flour), very low sugar intake, higher protein intake. Very much like the Atkin's diet. Carbs are converted in your digestive system into fuel to burn for energy. Any excess carbs that are not converted or burned are stored as fat in your body for future use. The average person is supposed to have about 200 - 300 grams of carbs per day. If that is reduced to 20 - 30 grams per day, your body chemistry will change slightly to allow for the burning of stored fat for energy, resulting in weight loss. It is not meant as a long-term diet, but to drop you down to your desired weight, at which point you gradually increase your carb intake until you are neither gaining or losing weight. At that point you should keep with that level of carb intake to maintain your desired weight.

Of course, as with any diet, exercise is an important part of losing the weight.

Using that diet plan, and adpating it to my own tastes and needs, I was able to lose 40+ pounds over the course of 2 1/2 months

More info about Ephedra

http://www.napra.org/docs/0/310/315.asp
"Products containing ephedrine are contra-indicated in heart disease, hypertension, thyroid disease, diabetes, enlarged prostate, anxiety and restlessness, glaucoma and pheochromocytoma. Ephedra/ephedrine aggravates these conditions and therefore should not be used except if recommended by and under the surveillance of a health care professional. It should also not be used during pregnancy and lactation.

Adverse effects of ephedrine can include dizziness, headache, decreased appetite, anxiety, restlessness or nervousness, gastrointestinal distress, irregular heartbeat, tachycardia, insomnia, flushing, sweating, hypertension, stroke, seizures, psychosis and death.

As well, due to the stimulant and euphoric properties of Ephedra/ephedrine, certain segments of the population are more likely to abuse these products, increasing the risk to their health.
"

http://www.cbc.ca/consumers/market/files/health/ephedrine/index.html
"But one of the most popular ingredients in some weight loss products on the market today has caused serious health problems - even deaths. And a Marketplace investigation has found not only is it readily available, over the counter, but in some cases it's being marketed and sold illegally.

The ingredient is ephedrine. It comes from a Chinese plant called ephedra or ma huang, and has been around for centuries, traditionally used as a nasal decongestant and to help asthmatics.

Dr. Dean Krielaars says ephedrine is being used for anything but those purely medical concerns. "It's generally a form of a stimulant much akin to your body's production of adrenaline," he says. "It's used for enhancing performance and for strength enhancement. Some people have used it for a weight loss agent."

Krielaars teaches physiology at the University of Manitoba and lectures about the effects of drugs on the body. He says ephedrine is a stimulant - a drug people can abuse and become addicted to.

"If you use the substance in a way for stimulation or for weight loss, you generally are taking dosages which exceed the dosages for nasal decongestion and you're taking it for a prolonged period of time, that's where you run into health problems," he says.

"You've got a number of possibilities - the worst ones being stroke and heart attack."
"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ephedra
"Beginning in the 1990s, concerns about the safety of Ephedra and Ephedra-based products began to be publicly raised. As Ephedra is a herb, products containing it were marketed as dietary supplements and therefore were exempt from FDA regulation in the United States. Ephedra was found in many popular weight control products, some of which the FDA believed may be hazardous. Sympathomimetic amines such as ephedrine raise heart rate and blood pressure and can be particularly hazardous to those with pre-existing cardiac problems.

According to the FDA, 155 deaths can be linked to Ephedra, most of them related to cardiac problems and strokes. However, many advocates of Ephedra maintain that it is safe when used as directed, and continue to regard it as a dietary supplement rather than as a drug. Critics maintain, however, that there is anecdotal evidence that the use of Ephedra can cause tolerance and dependence. Health food store GNC stopped carrying ephedra-containing products in June 2003, and the National Football League banned players from using it as a dietary supplement in 2001.

I totally second what SWG said. Even though Ephedra/Ephedrine has been allowed back on the market, it has not been re-introduced by many of the major health food companies, for many reasons including liability issues. My understanding is that one of the main effects of Ephedra in order to induce the fat-burning property of the drug is to raise the core body temperature. Any time that this happens, it is dangerous and potentially deadly in some cases depending on physiological composition and body chemistry.

Significant loss of weight within a short period of time can be dangerous as well and can have several unwarranted side effects. The initial steps taken to lose weight or get back into shape are important, but just as vital or even more so are the steps to maintain everything. With a good balance of diet and exercise, I've been able to maintain about a toned 7% body fat composition over the last several years.

Good luck! ;)

And I too agree with alot of what has been said and the reviews about Ephedra BUT what drug IS good for you if you abuse and mistreat it DUH! I am not and never did abuse it over the three years I have been taking it, if you take it in moderation and do as instuctions state, you will see results.
Same as asprin, tylonol, or even vitamins, you take more then the recommended dosage, it is harmful and your abusing it. Everything comes with a price, and if you abuse it you pay the consequence, but if you use it correctly, you reap the rewards! On the same note you will have some physicians tell you it IS harmful if not used properly, and other's such as my own, told me as long as I am not abusing it and I am seeing results, it IS not harmful and works.

Forget liquid diets. Oprah tried it and gained back double what she lost.
Forget Ephedra/Ephedrine. In small doses it does work however the side effects aren't pleasant.

Want to lose the weight?

Come out of retirement.:D

The sad thing is it's true ... I personally know somebody that lost 15 lbs in 30 days with a "crack diet." Skin and bones... pale and anemic looking... split ends in the hair... rough "man" skin due to all the lighter clicking... you can tell when a spinner is "naturally" trained or "crack trained." It's kinda like that movie Rocky IV... "Drago is naturally trained... he ate his spinach ahvry day"

But Eden, I know you're better than that... I remember you as the SP that raised the bar for the others to follow... so please don't take any short cuts... my personal suggestion is to get on a shake breakfast/lunch and a subway dinner (turkey, sliced chicken, or grilled chicken... never any mayo or processed cheese)... grilled chicken with spring mix salad, corn, and a small portion of rice, bread or potatoes (roasted or baked) for dinner every day... now that's a dinner that's hard to get sick of! U could live on Nandos and Subway. With that diet, you should be able to lose 2 lbs a week on just food alone, no exercise. In the meantime, perhaps buy a bigger swimsuit that compliments your current body and then when u get into your smaller one, give the bigger one away to charity?

Hope it all works out. If that doesn't work... u may just have to come out of retirement, and f$xcercise your way back down to your past weight. :p

The FDA banned the use and sale of Ephedra in the United States because too many people were trying to over medicate to get quicker results. Because of this, numerous people were having heart attacks. Ephedra helps speed up your heart rate and metabolism. Some put ephedra in the same category as mild speed.
Ephedra's inital use and intention was in cold medications for nasal relief. Weight loss companies soon found the benefits of ephedra to be positive when added to their weight loss suppliments as it does speed up the heart rate as well as the metabolism.
Ephedra in itself is harmless if taken correctly. The FDA had to step in when they discovered people were taking too much, in effort to get quicker results. Their first step was to lower the allowed capsule dosages fro 25mg. to 8mg. per capsule. This didn't discourage users of ephedrine. It just ment that users were now taking more capsules to make up for the change. Therefore, the FDA decided to ban ephedra all together.
With proper use, ephedra is beneficial and can help when combined with the correct amount of caffine. You can buy both at the health food stores and fitness centers across Canada. When combined in the right doseage, both ephedra and caffine will create the ECA Factor. An Ephedrine/Caffine Stack that will work wonders. However! If misused, it CAN be deadly.
Visit your local fitness suppliment center and ask about the ECA Stack before starting this regiment. A certified suppliment center with properly trained staff can safely answer the proper useage of Ephedra and Caffine. Like they say, NEVER start a new regiment without professional advice first.
The useage of Ephedra and Caffine to create the ECA Stack has been a conflicting issue for a while now. It has it's pro's and it's con's. Just like anything else in life.
For more information on the ECA Stack, you can go to: CLICK HERE

Creole- you are one sexy biatch!!! I love you and hell only knows if I came out of retirement you and I would be on a strick regiment of purely sinful activity........But until such time as that, i was looking at another solution!:D

I am well aware that anything, if it is taken advantage of or misused, can be dangerous! I am not into hurting my body, merely getting it to adjust! It is not healthy for a weight gain or loss of over 5 - 10 lbs in less than a year, especially when being over-weight runs in ones family. I quit smoking and have made some other lifestyle changes in this course, but they have all been to the healthier side. I just don't want to be one of those people who wake up one morning and say "gosh, how could I have gained that 50lbs and when did it happen"! I want to make sure that I am on top of it given the family history and such. I don't want to be as thin as I was before, either-that was borderline unhealthy (and I ate like a horse and couldn't for the life of me gain weight!!), I want to be 105lbs, which for someone with a small frame and who is vertically challenged is not an unreasonable. I want to also state that I do exercise regularily (before I did not) and do not have a huge appetite, but do eat healthily.

Thanks to everyone who is helping.
Especially to Hitrak and of course to Avarice, who without them this thread would, just not be complete!!

Kiss kiss, but

Okay, this is an old one but I couldn't resist.....

how about you sit on my face, I guess your weight (and of course will guess well over it) and in turn will be forced to eat the difference!!!

okay, I see your retired so this won't work. I do have my eye on Avarice though for this particular appetite!!
