@the Meat Market!!!lol
the work for sex workers rights does not affect you....
BCCEC War on Erotic Entrepreneurs panel.jpg
all over the world sex worker organizations are under attack...cuts to funding if funded at all....and no major funders willing to "compromise" by being seen as "supporting" adult workers...you know ...whores are bad for the brand...

we need support, if you do not like me or the work I am doing please...consider giving something to a sex worker org in your area...not an "anti-trafficking org"...they are very well funded already...

we are facing unprecedented attacks on our ability to exist on-line with the government of Canada - all parties, most legislation tabled by the conservatives - actively working with no opposition to remove all adult content from the internet...

there are 4 bills in parliament right now trying to erase all sexuality from online spaces....

please come out and hear more about what we are doing to work to fix these issues on Oct. 22nd from 1 - 4 at SFU Harbor Center downtown

pleas consider sending a donation - anything at all helps - to which ever org you support or to me....for the ongoing work we are doing.

thanks for your consideration,

love susie

Can you name or summarize the proposed legislation?
Sure.....

Bill S-210 - https://www.ourcommons.ca/committees/en/SECU/StudyActivity?studyActivityId=12521982

Harms Caused to Children, Women, and Men by the Ease of Access to, and Online Viewing of, Illegal Sexually Explicit Material https://www.ourcommons.ca/committees/en/CHPC/StudyActivity?studyActivityId=11527845
this one is a "study" but will lead to another legislation....

Bill C-11 https://www.ourcommons.ca/committees/en/CHPC/StudyActivity?studyActivityId=11685743 and in the Senate https://sencanada.ca/en/sencaplus/news/the-online-streaming-act-in-the-senate/#:~:text=The%20Senate%20has%20adopted%20Government,Assent%20on%20April%2027%2C%202023.

Bill C-27 - This is not as obvious but has deep implications for all of us especially those of us who are marginalized or criminalized https://www.ourcommons.ca/committees/en/INDU/StudyActivity?studyActivityId=12157763

Then there is the work of the status of women committee....

https://www.ourcommons.ca/Committees/en/FEWO/Work

they discuss many things which impact sex workers and never include sex workers...like coercive control....- if my partner takes the money to the bank or does the banking on our behalf - i am being controlled...it is more complicated than simply that but this law will be used to "prove exploitation" and places our families at risk....or women' s economic empowerment - no mention of sex workers financial exclusion or the red light prohibitions at banks "to prevent human trafficking"

or the HESA _ health Committee studying Women's Health - https://www.ourcommons.ca/committees/en/HESA/StudyActivity?studyActivityId=11695303
no mention of sex workers, you may notice the BC Coalition has briefs in some/ most of these studies...I try to keep up...the Canadian Alliance and Butterfly are in many as well....

This one is from the HUMA committee on Federal Housing Investments

https://www.ourcommons.ca/committees/en/HUMA/StudyActivity?studyActivityId=12622602

I wrote a brief to this as it was the time when housing exclusion was on the rise and provinces were adopting principles contained within the crime free multi housing program as policy and practice. I attached the law review here and our executive summary for that work...the brief is live on the committee study page

Just found Bill C-63.....ffs....even my MP is being blind about the risk it poses to 170,000 sex workers in Canada (minimum number - published and peer reviewed research www.populationproject.ca )

We have to check every committee everyday pretty well and even then we miss things....

I could go on but now have to phone my MP....
