If they are asking money from a relative stranger, then, yes, it's a scam.

I had one girl hit me up. Said she lived in Vancouver and wanted to hook up. Her email ended in .ru and when I questioned her on it, the scam began ;) "Oh, I'm in Russia right now, trying to get some money together to fly home....blah blah blah".

Thank you and good bye. Of course, she was real hot. If it's too good to be true....

If you are well off enough that losing the money will not hurt you, then go for it. Just consider it a gamble and the chances of you seeing a ROI for your money to be real slim (as in next to none).

i've gotten emails like this from russian gals before. eventually the scam gets pretty obvious...

she doesnt have her own computer so she emails ya for some internet cafe.. sure she sends pictures but have you ever seen her on webcam? every internet cafe has webcams even in russia..

if your first thought is scam then it most likely is. but have fun with it give those poor scammers a lil hope before ya pull the plug:D

I get these types of emails all the time, probably because I've tried various dating sites. It almost assuredly is a scam. If you google 'russian lady scam' you get thousands of hits and some websites even lists names and pics of the thousands of scammers out there. You really have no idea who you are corresponding with. It could be a guy for all you know.

If you really want a russian bride there are some semi-legit websites out there that will set up travel and dates, although I haven't tried any. I prefer asian women :)

in addition....

Maxx,
when the prince of Nigeria asks for your bank account info to send you $30,000,000 it's "probably" a scam too;)

I get these emails almost daily. I responded once and she was so happy that she was going to meet me when she arrived. Whoa never said anything about meeting or picking her up when she arrived. Ended that quickly, never heard from her or whoever again. But still get others.

I have been on a few dating sites also .. but seldom e- mailed any one. hard to say I may have put here on my hot list once. I don't have any bad intentions here any ways . so i will see where it goes .. and be disappointed when it turns out to be a scam.

Three words, scam scam scam

Don't send money, don't give out account info, don't give personal info and see what's the response. I bet the email will stop.
But if you do end up loosing money on this, and tell us about it later on. We gonna say, "we told you so".

If it is a scam, which is very common, sooner or later she will ask for money, I have got so many of this kind of e-mail, now I just delete them.

Be careful

I got one from a women yesterday, telling me all about herself and looking for a stable man. I deleted it. I get the viagra one every second day, but now I see they are just sending them out to everyone.
I have had the Nigeria ones too. I told them to take their scam elsewhere, and that I have notified authorities. Haven't had one of those since.
I wonder if it has to do with EC or here for us to have the same type of emails. There has to be some sort of connection,

I'll add my story too.
I almost never get junk mail or ads, even in my hotmail account. I'm pretty careful, so I don't get on a lot of mailing lists. But last year I received an email from this woman in Russia. I have no idea where she got my address. She started with a 'looking for a penpal' kinda vibe. She had some pictures attached with every email (Very pretty). I'm pretty chatty when it comes to email so I said what the hell and responded every time. She told me all about her life, her family, her job, her young son. I recipricated but never talked in specifics. We had a nice conversation because we had a lot in common, we were the same age, she would talk about her hobbies and they would be similiar to mine. My father was born in Russia too, so we had that connection.

Of course, in her 5th or 6th email she started hinting that she wants to come to Canada. Saying things like 'where could I live' etc etc. Obviously she's looking for a lonely man that will get her into a first world country. That's not me, so it didn't work. But even so, I don't blame her for trying. It's probably one of the few ways to get ahead in life when you're trapped in a country with such a terrible economy. A friend on mine had a similiar experience in Cuba. A very good looking, Don Juan type, tried to completely seduce her. It almost worked, but she was smart enough to call it quits when he started asking for money.

Funny how you mentioned this on here. I got an email from a Russian 25 yr old as well Only I got it over 6 months ago on POF ( plenty of fish ). I'm not on that site anymore. She emailed me 2 times and to me it seemed real legit. She went into quite detail about herself and her life there. Whether it's true or not I don't know.
Anyway, the one I got was 25yrs old and she a really good looking blonde shoulder length hair. That was the pic she sent me. Not sure if you got a pic of her. I'm pretty sure there's something more behind it. I deleted it.

I will say it first

I told you so. fakers.. the Russian girl.is a scam.
She has not asked for money .. but I found a copy of her next letter before she is going to send it..Talk about knowing the future.. it a little weird.
Yes ther are all the resources that .. a love smuck.. can go and check .. when he get a letter from a Russian girl or any other for that fact... there are lots of guys out there .. smart and intelligent . that get caught up with these letters.. and send thousands of dollars before they finely figure it out. Why .. well i guess we want to believe that some one needs us.. and we can be the white night and get the beautiful princess.( or get srewed in the ass by the prince of scams.
On one of the anti scam site I found the exact letter that were sent to me .. only the names were changed. and the city they are from. But I was a little sick in the stomach when i read the same words, and then .. read s what the next letter would be .. and yep that is what came this morning.
In the next few day i will be expecting the .. letter asking for $350 .. because they want more for the visa.. send it by western union.. and then there will be the letter for $1250.. for air fare .. because she ran out of money... and so one .. if i don't catch on..
I don't really feel like string them along.. because i went . into it with my eyes wide open.. but I would like to know how this keeps going on .. when it is all done on the Internet .. all the guys that get this mail has access to the same resource that i found .. and let face it . we know that this is an impossible dream . to have a beautiful girl .. e mail you out of the blue . and start saying how they love you and want Tobe with you . and just can't wait.
We all know about fantasy.. LOL.. that is why we are here ...but to be fair .. the ladies here .. are very real... we actual get to meet them.
I kind of wonder where they get the pictures of these girl . If they are part of the scam .. or are the pics that they send just taken of some other dating site..or escort site.
My Russian girl..sent some nice pictures of her . her with family.. and just before she went to Moscow. some nude shoots .. taken by here sister. she did not look to at ease in them..
I may just play this out . to see what lengths they will go to to give me proof that she is real.. and convince me to send money. I am going to ask for more info.. like pass port .. and what her itinerary is .. and the flight number. ad where they were planing to house her ..She wanted to com to where I am .. so she would have to come into either Vancouver . or Victoria . air port. There are direct flights from Moscow to either city
Well I will see if I feel like going on with this scam.. :(

Check the email...

Same story like most, she (or he) started of from lavalife, then sent a few emails with stories and quite a few pictures (and nice ;-)...). I was suspicious, did some search, found this website: http://www.global7russia.com/scam/check/t/scammers.asp. Type in her email address, wowla, someone reported her as scam. I still play along, so to waste some of her/his time, but I guess she (or he) got tired of me ;-), no more email or nice pictures anymore, rats! And I was hope she will send me some nake pictures... ;-) Don't trust anything on the internet...

I am not surprised

Well I got the letter asking for money .. true to the pattern.. She dis not go for the low cost one either .the $ 350 for a visa , no it was $ 800 us. for the plane ticket .. for a flight on Sept 4th. and this was after I sent a letter that i would not give money to people i don't know in Russia.
I have not told them i think this is a scam .. but I did mention that I did not know if the e mails were a scam or not..
So I can only assume they don't read all my mail .. they just look to see if I replied .. and then send the next one in the series Like I said I don't know if there are some girls making any money off this .. or just some guy.
How many lonely guys are out there looking for that soul mate?.. Tt can be very inviting. to want to believe.. in love at first e mail.
. I suggested that if she could not afford the trip she should go back home a nd save up for another try. You would think that some one would had told her how much she would need for the fight , the visa ..and travel / living exspeses.. $ 3000 ..$4000 before she got a job . and a sugerdaddy .. on the other side..
I guess I will see what the next one will say.. and watch for the them being pissed. It is not that i am going to call them liers.. i just have said i can't send money because i don't trust .. that it will get to her .. and be used for the flight .. that is true .. and but i also spent the money .. on a girl last night. That is real.. and i knows tells me the truth. that is true also .. but I won't tell them that quite yet LOL.
