So I was at the parking lot in surrey central the other day. This woman in her mid early 30 came up to me and asked for some help. Being a nice gentleman, I came over and we chatted for a while. She said she was from Hope and came to surrey with her child in her car. She ran out of gasoline and needed 15 bucks to get back to Hope. She sounded so nice and not like a junkie.

She said she will pay me back by tomorrow and gave me her cell numbers. I called her many days and never have any luck. I am totally by scam out because of how nice I am to people.

I'm not helping out anyone who asks for moneys any more.

That's one of the oldest scams in the book... the numbers or drivers license or whatever will always be fake... a lot of junkies will hang around gas stations with a "car out of gas" and pull this scam... $5 here, $10 there, $15 there... I was once at a gas station when this guy approached me with the exact same scam you mentioned... anything to get their next hit of drugs... the teller immediately recognized him and called the police... he apparently had pulled the same scam there before.

Don't let this sour you on helping people... there are people out there that really need help... u just have to be a better judge next time on who to help.

You are a poster boy for the old saying, "There's one born every minute!" I'm not sure, but I believe that is PT Barnum referring to SUCKERS.

Not that my $0.02 is needed here but I agree that it's one of the various money scamming methods utilized by dishonest types. Interestingly, the ones who do this are usually "cleaner" cut types who don't look or smell like the usual transients. Last year, I almost fell into a similar trap at Science World as a very persistent, clean cut type went through a similar spiel with me. Luckily for me, it was closing time at Science WOrld and there were a fair number of people leaving.

This guy asked for $20 for cab fair to get home to North Vancouver and I considered it for a while but was hesitant. Another visitor to Science WOrld overheard our conversation and said he was heading home to North Vancouver and offered to give him a free ride. When he refused with some excuse, I knew he was a fraud. Interestingly, the other guy pushed the topic by driving up in his car and opening the door offering the free ride but this guy stuck to his excuses. I got into my car and looked back when the other driver honked...............he waved and laughed indicating to me that he knew what was up, all along......;)

first off to add to this situation, If I gave someone I never met before 15 dollars I definitly wouldnt expect to get it back nor dwell on the fact lol. 15 dollars, what can you honestly buy for 15 dollars now a day. I was downtown and this guy pulled one on me lol . He told me that he was flying out of town and he didnt have enough money to pay the airport improvment fee wich at the time was I think 10 to 15 bucks. I gave it to him not for the reason of him needing it but for the fact that his scam he was pulling was greatly thought out, and he had paper and so on. I liked the props and how he marketed his scam to me. maybe Im a bit twisted but sitting on the curb with a sign asking for money to me is sad but if you put energy into your begging it shall prevail. And to this day I still the odd time bump into that same guy downtown who still hasnt taken his flight lmao. I always remind him of who I am when he approaches me and he laughs and walks away. :D

The other day, I was downtown and this guy walked up to me. He looked like crap and smelled that way too. He was dirty, his hair was dishevelled, he was unshaven and his clothes were in tatters. He asked me for $10.00 for a meal. I asked him, "Are you going to buy beer with this money?" He said, "No, I haven't had a drink in over 10 years." So I asked him, "Are you going to use this money to go play golf?" He said, "I don't even own golf clubs anymore. I sold them years ago". So I queried further: "Are you going to find a cheap hooker somewhere and pay for sex with this?" He replied, "I've been without sex so long, I doubt I could perform, so, no I won't."
I then said to him, "You're welcome to come over to my house for supper if you like. I want my wife to see what happens to a man when he goes without beer, golf and sex!"
That is an old joke but a good one!

I got stung by a good one in Toronto years ago: My gf and I had just parked in a lot close to the O'Keefe Centre and went to pay the parking. A well dressed couple were waiting ahead of us to pre-pay their parking. We got up behind them and they *realized they hadn't brought their wallets." "Oh, God,' she wailed, 'we drove all the way in from Peterborough to see this show.. blah, blah."

So I step up and ask how much they need. They calculate it all and I give them about $50 bucks and they give me their phone # etc. and I give them my number. Their number was a fake. Why ask for spare change when you can pull a number like that?! I'll bet that was one of many routines. Best part was I offered money, they didn't ask for it, they just put on a show.
$50 DOLLARS FOR PARKING!!!!!!

geez. parking for $10 downtown doesn't seem so bad anymore.

Once in a while I get this downtown. A youngish guy or girl sidles up to me as I'm walking, or maybe stopped at a crosswalk and passes some variation on this story:

- They thank me for being the only one who has stopped to talk to them (I didn't)
- They're travelling from somewhere.
- They fell asleep at the airport/bus station/train station
- Someone stole all their shit
- They just need $__ to sort it all out (whatever that means)
- They're not on drugs
- etc.

Anyway, it's always some variation on that, usually with long tedious embellishments. Mostly it's annoying because

a) the fucking story, even though I know from the start is bullshit, takes forever and they follow me like a lost puppy while trying to tell it.
b) they're desperate as fuck and literally pleading with me for money. Aggressive behaviour like that freaks me out.
c) I can see their rotting teeth, sure fire evidence they're meth-heads. Sorry, people's teeth don't turn grey/black when they're in their 20s.

Anyway, the teeth always give away the meth-heads.

Was she driving a blue Corsica? I was approached by her too in the Toys R Us parking lot and she used the same excuse. Said she needed gas money and some food for her baby. Just enough to get her back to Hope. I told her I couldn;t help her and that she should go into the store where she could probably get some food foer her baby. She got into her car and drove away.

Sad how they are using their babies now to get money.

sometimes it's a HAPPY ending!!

I was at a skating rink/Pool in abbotsfod about 3 months ago. I'm waiting to order my food behind this young looking hottie. I was beside her for about 5 min and was thinking how cute and sexy she looked..(I think I acually got hard.HA HA HA ) She goes to pay for her meal and realizes she has no Debit card with her. Says she left it at the courthouse in Vancouver earlier in the day. The Asian guy does NOT look impressed and I step up to the counter and offer to cover her food. She is sooo relieved and surprised that a stranger would do that, we start to chat and actually sit together to eat our food. She tells me her ex is a real asshole and that is why she was in court.

Her food bill was around 10 dollars or something...piss all, really.

We exchanged #'s and I gave her a call 2 days later. We ended up meeting for coffee (she paid). We went to the vancouver game farm to watch the big cat's get fed and walked around there for a while. Each of us drove our own vehicles and when we got back to the parking lot we stood between our SUV's and chatted some more. Anyway...with a door from each of our vehicles open, she starts playing with my cock and I start fondling her. She ends up on her knees and blows me in the fucking parking lot! It was soo fucking hot!! We haven't hooked up since, but I would love to again.

My SO and I drove by the Game Farm a couple weeks ago. I started laughing to myself over what had happened in that parking lot.:D

S#@t happens

I was leaving the office in downtown van at midnight when a welldressed young man ran across the street and asked me if I knew where the local tourist info centre was. Being new here myself at the time I didnt have a clue.
He continued to tell me a sob story about traveling here from england for his birthday, it was his last day in Vancouver and was going to catch his plane in a couple hours but he had left all his paperwork and luggage in his rental which was stolen just an hour before. At this point in time he didnt ask for money so i listened as he rambled on, after about twenty minutes of talking I offered him 60 bucks to take a cab either to the police station or to the airport and something to eat. He gave me all the info he could think of numbers, address, email and swore up and down that he would pay me back.....I never heard from him again. Although I was upset for awhile I believe in Kharma and to all of you out there who still think society is out to get you (not everyone is) if your doing well in life and have the extra, help someone out it doesnt matter what they do with it.....it all comes back to you in the end! :)

lmao that sounds exactly like the guy who got me a while back and used the similar excuse, he also had a british accent and was from england. Funny how these people make there rounds. The skytrain ones are my favorite for instance there has been this one old guy in front of grandville for like over 10 years, same guy, same sign, still homeless.lol And then you go to give half of them a sandwich because they say there sooo hungry and when you turn your back you see them chuck it, and then you wonder to yourself if it was just the miracle whip( hmm maybe they prefer mayo) or there just not hungry for food lol. ungreatfull. ( damn it I even put bacon on that sandwich, you know who you are lmao)

I had a similar situation in Burnaby where I was approached by a nice, young, clean-cut guy (probably not even 20) who said he was parked a couple of blocks up the road, had just run out of gas, and needed to get back to Surrey. I offered him a transit ticket :D , and also offered the use of my cellphone so he could call his parents to come and rescue him. He thanked me, but refused both offers. In a way I felt badly, because I remember being 17 and running out of gas while driving my parents' car, and some nice gentleman drove me to the gas station, helped me get a container of gas (I paid), drove me back to my car, helped me filll up and made sure everything was okay before sending me on my way. When I thought about that, I really felt like I should have helped this kid more, but then I wondered why anyone old enough to be driving wouldn't have cash, a debit card or a credit card on him. I mean, who actually goes somewhere without having any access to money whatsoever???
