Dear Friends
With the Holidays upon us I would like to share a personal experience with*my friends about drinking and driving. As you may know some of us have been known to have brushes with the*authorities from time to time on the way home after a "social session" out*with* friends.Well, two days ago I was out for an evening with friends and had several*cocktails followed by some rather nice red wine. Feeling jolly,* I still hadthe sense toknow that I may be slightly over the limit.* That's when I did something*that I've never done before ---* I took a cab home.Sure enough on the way home there was a police roadblock, but since it was*a cab they waved it past. I arrived home safely without incident. This was a real surprise as I had never driven a cab before, I don't know*where I got it and now that it's in my garage I don't know what to do with*it !!

Regards

Funny end to a good thread...

I have driven home shit faced a few times my self, when i was younger. It was NOT easy to admit you've had too much, nor did you want the hassle of having to get your vehicle back the next day. Plus (the irony) what if someone stole it or hit it???

Well times have changed since the 70's.....more traffic, faster traffic the odds of having an accident in Vancouver today are much greater then in small town rural Alberta.....Today the deterrent isn't the cops or the road check, its the stark reality that killing or maiming someone is not something I wish to go thru the rest of my life with.

The lady who killed the little girl, who was feeding a horse.. will live with the guilt of what she did. Seeing her face on the news and imagining what she is and will be feeling is enough for me to NOT want to D&D........and that's an easy decision for me to make sober, and I hope one I can make after a few too.

Because it just ain't worth it...

I went out with friends four times over the holidays. The first two times I was the DD which I didn't mind at all and I still had lots of fun. Third time they wouldn't let me be DD so another friend took the job. Later that night I found him in the kitchen sipping on a whisky and said WTF dude you are our DD tonight? I ordered a cab and 90 minutes later it arrived. The host was pissed since it was 2 AM before we left. The last time we went out, the guy who bailed on being DD took us out as an apology and was a true DD that night.

Save money on taxis and buy a DOT breathalyzer. Take the guesswork out of a serious matter and live within the measurable limits set out in law. They make great party favours.
