Hyundai Genesis 3.8 V6 sedan kind of sucks.

I was at the airport hoping to rent one of my favorite cars a Mazda2, they were out someone rented it one hour before me. So I asked how about a GTI, 3 series bimmer, VW Tiguan. Nope, Nope, Nope. So I thought why not try almost luxury? So I requested a 2011 Hyundai Genesis sedan. They gave it to me for 36 bucks plus tax for one day. Great!

The Car's 3.8 motor and transmission are top notch. The V6 is refined, very refined and is very quiet in a non sports car way. Its not for the EVO, WRX crowds. The tranny shifts like a expensive car should, you dont feel any rough points up or downshifting.

The handling is not up to par AT ALL. Its pretty close to the old Buick, Oldsmobile standard of no steering feel and boat like. I think even the current Buicks handle better than this car. Hyundai might offer good value, great warranty and good looks but they in no way in almost all their cars can match a Mazda, VW, Honda for handling. Hyundai will not get my money until they improve the ride and handling.

Do they have a Cadillac CTS. I love to rent one for the day....

This was at the seattle airport. From experience you can rent pretty much all Domestic car maker's cars except maybe the CTS-V or the top Covertte Z1. German cars forget about it, they dont want their cars to be degraded by being a airport rental.

I'm going to try again soon and rent the Mazda2, Its a blast for a car rated at only 100hp.

I rented a 2011 Chrysler 200 convertible from Vancouver airport. Cost me a while $29 for the day, but the total cost was $140 by the end... For what the car was, and how its comparable to my current daily driver, it was the worst car I have ever driven. Amenities were nice, decent on gas given its a heavy car, but the power and handling just wasn't there like it is in my Toyota.

Well thats because ALL Chrysler products are total shite.....a friend of mine who is a total gear head/car collector took the Chrysler Crossfire for a test drive the year it rolled out....after the test drive he told the salesman "It should be called the Missfire"

With regards to the OP you have to give Hyundai credit...yeah in the first few years of production they built crap cars that were worthless after 2 years and were rusted out and falling apart after 4 years....that being said it was a long time ago....Hyundai now builds some damn fine automobiles and they represent every market but the light/heavy truck side of things....their vehicles are better optioned than the competition in all classes and to option a car the competition makes adds some serious $$$'s to the cost and the competition's factory warranty is also another ace in the sleeve for Hyundai.

I drive a 2011 Mazda3 Hatchback, Its one hell of a good handling car, a poor man's sports car. As for the Speed3 I've driven it before, the car is a riot with that turbo, hit the sweet spot and poof watch everything fly by.

$29 to rent the car
$35 for insurance(so it wouldnt affect my insurance)
$30 cause i'm under 25
$20 cause I dropped it off at the airport cause it was a 'premium' drop off point
$13ish for the GPS

And the list went on and on. I figured it was actually cheaper to rent a car for the rest of my life then it would be to make payments for an expensive car, but once everything added up, I was horribly wrong. Keep in mind, short of the premium drop off, everything else was charged by the day, so they clearly bent me over that day when I thought it was a walk in the park.
