The BBC doc 'Is oral sex safe' aired a few days ago:

If you can find a UK video proxy, (I hear there's an active bittorrent), you can see it. Not the greatest doc, it actually moves quite slowly, but it made me aware of some facts I didn't know about HPV and throat cancer.

It also gets into the debate about vaccinating men against HPV. (It's not really a debate, more cost vs benefit, with the docs saying it should be done, and the bean counters saying no.)

At least search for 'HPV in men' and read up about it. Chances are low of developing throat cancer, but they are on the rise.

I would assume the situation (pros/cons etc) would be the same as for women, no?

It might be worth it to start a thread in the health section to get HN`s comments...

Yes, for women it`s the same risks, but, at least in the UK, women can get the vaccine in their teens, payed for by their health system. I think the figures presented was that men accounted for at least 85% of HPV caused throat cancer.

Good idea about the health section. In the BBBJ thread oral cancer and HPV is talked about, but it hasn`t been updated recently.

Health Nurse posted some good information on this topic in the BBBJ thread. I`ll keep any updates and questions in that thread from now on.

Play safe! :)
