Tried a search and got partial answers.

What is the totally legal way to hire an SP? For someone who has never done it before what would be the best advice? What are the do's and don'ts? Is it dangerous? Are there undercover police posing as SP's?

Sorry if this has been answered before, if it has is there a link that would be helpful?

Here are the laws for Edmonton, and I am pretty sure these are the same or at least very similar throughout the country: http://www.edmontonpolice.ca/Commun...on/Prostitution/LegalitiesofProstitution.aspx

Basically prostitution itself is not illegal, but much of what is associated with it (ie., soliciting in a public place, pimping aka living off the avails, and being in a bawdy house) is.

A bawdy house is a place that has prostitution as its primary purpose. That is why there are massage parlours in Canada and not brothels. Practically speaking, police will not bust a massage parlour that is only doing its business, but the bawdy house bylaw is a good card to have in their pocket in case other issues come up, eg., human trafficking, drug deals, etc.

I am not a lawyer, but I would conclude that having an SP over to your house would be 100% legal, as would going to her place provided she lived there. If she didn't live there, theoretically it could be considered a bawdy house.

Thanks for the quick replies. What about asking the SP for certain services? How would the negotiating of services be legal? What about discussing rates?

So is a massage parlor a public place? What if the room is private? Is a room inside of a massage parlor defined as a public or private place?

the MPA is usually a contracted employee who is renting the room , therefor the room is considered a private location. The halls and other open areas of the MP are considered public and discussing any rates or options there would contravene the laws. Here in Edmonton the MPs are usually a legit option with both the business and the MPAs licensed

Would "getting a massage" be a lawful excuse as defined by the law? And anything else that happens in the room is between two consenting adults? How strict is LE with the law?

If an SP uses a private residence to meet clients is it considered a bawdy house? If someone were found in a bawdy house what would be an example of a lawful excuse?
