i think that is the main reason this law will be passed.. Because.. Therd is no face on the people involved
Most cant admit or want to be identified with prostitution or use of it services.

See you all ready feel shunded.. Ashamed and margilised.. and wont stand up for what ever right you think you have...So we are easy targets for the moral right... And they know it.

The gays and lesbians never got there rights untill they stood up and became public .
Then they could not be ignored....
The problem her is few people will stand and say i have a right to make money with my body
I have the right to make that choise.. I have a right to be safe..
And as clients.. Who will say i am not breaking any law .. I am not abussing or raping any women
When they have openly and freely offered there services.. that are legal to do so
I have a right to buy those services as long as i know..they are boing it by free choise and that they are not underage or trafficed.

There is no way of keep our right with out say yes i see prostituts. I use thier services.. and i support the right that this stay legal and safe

WHO WILL SAY I CAN DO THAT
A handful of women ... But not very many

A man here and there.. Whos voice gets lost in being labled a pervert..

Sorry i dont see much stoping it .. Only going to court once you are charg

I have no issue with anyone knowing what I do.

But, it's really easy for people to dismiss what a "pervert" or "predator" says as just being self serving.....

A few days ago someone posted a really long and well written letter that could be customized and sent to an MP. I think that letters like that would be very effective IF MP's actually read their mail.

But really it is likely just low level staffers that open the mail and record numbers of constituents that support versus numbers that don't support. Oh and they capture your demographic information for fund-raising purposes.

So you don't really need to open your heart. Just send a note saying that you oppose this bill. The numbers of us all doing that are more valuable than articulate prose.

I am working on a letter that I am going to e-mail to Harper, Mackay and my local member of parliament tomorrow. I was surprised by how easy it was to write. Once I got going it just flowed. Don't know if it will help but I am making the effort. I also share many articles on this topic on FB. Again, not sure if it will help, but I have managed to correct the thinking of at least one of my friends.

You know the interesting thing about all this is that it is about the sale of sex. Isn't it amazing that it is legal to just give it away? so you can't be charged with anything if you didn't pay for sex. Now that is the trick. So the challenge might be figure out how to reward the partner without it being traceable. Maybe you could go into a store, buy her something, cash, arrange for her to pick it up, give her the bill, and when she picks it up she asks for a cash refund, and walks with her money. You didn't hand her money, nor a gift, and if cash was paid, you name likely isn't on it, so maybe not traceable. Some ingenuity here might be what is needed.

In Your Wildest Dreams!
I'm thinking the same thing.. Bit coins perhaps?
Here's an idea then...

You make your arrangement with the lady for the agreed upon amount of time, and decide a value for that time. Just for sake of argument, let's say that instead of Jade Canoes, you agree to give the lady 10 Silver Maples (or 15...or perhaps you save long enough to spend 1 Gold Maple's worth of time with Classy Angel!)

You take your cash, and you go to any one of a number of places where you can use cash to purchase the metals. You need not provide any ID for a transaction under the value of $3000. The lady then also has a secure asset that compensates her for her time. When she needs to liquidate it, she can go to a number of places to do so. At many of these places, she does not need to provide any ID to do so; they will simply exchange that coin for cash and send you on your way with a smile! If you'd like to come and see me for 10 Silver Maples, I'd be happy to give you an hour of my all-inclusive time!

See how simple that would be?

Post Cards, Just Say No to Bill C-36

Post cards can be sent postage free to the House of Commons and cost a bit less than 25 cents each to print when ordered by the thousand.

Who would be willing to pick them up from supportive organizations around Vancouver like PIVOT Legal and pay 25 cents each?

A list of MPs names would be provided. Just write in a name and drop it in a mail box. It probably won't prevent passage of C-36 but it may be a step in the right direction.

SPs could have a stack on hand for clients. For $77 you could send one to every MP. Money collected would pay for printing more.

Please Respond.

As for a message on the card, here are some possibilities.

Say which ones you like best.

Sex Worker's Rights are Human Rights

From the TERB board.

"It costs over a hundred thousand dollars a year to incarcerate someone - I don't want my tax dollars being spent to imprison anyone who had consensual sex, even if money happened to change hands!"

"Police have better things to do than chase down people purchasing sexual services, let's direct the resources towards more important things!"

"I can think of a lot better uses for that $20 million dollars than anti-sex-work task forces, that's our money you're spending and you could put it to better uses!"

"The Supreme Court already ruled that these laws were unconsitutional, why does the government insist on wasting millions of dollars in court costs? This is just a way to give money to their lawyers to fight a losing battle!"

If you have a Liberal or NDP MP, taking a harm-reduction or personal-freedoms stance might work a bit better:

"Sex workers are people too, and this law makes their lives less safe."

"All Canadians deserve the right to be safe from violence, and this bill does the opposite."

"I am a Canadian who respects the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and I don't respect the Conservative government's blatant disregard for our constitution."

"This law pushes a market underground that is in desperate need of health and safety standards, and is likely to make disease and violence more prevalent"

Last but certainly not least:

"I see no place for the state in the bedrooms of the nation!"

"The Harper Government has been a persistent failure in the Supreme Court of Canada. Prevent more of the same. Just Say NO to Bill C-36."

"Is a government that was opposed by over 60% of voters qualified to write legislation without meaningful consultation? Just Say NO to Bill C-36. "
