I know this topic has been beaten to death but I feel the need to rant.

Had an appointment with a very well reviewed SP yesterday. I usually only see one of my 3 regulars but I occasionally like to sample something different. I have e-mailed her in the past and decided to give her a call on Monday, had a great conversation and set up a rendevous for yesterday evening. Since I had never seen her before she told me to call her an hour prior to the date and she'd give me her incall location. Tuesday afternoon I leave work early, stop at liquor store for wine, go home shower, shave, brush, floss, get dressed,go to bank for $$, place cash in blank envelope. It's an hour until our meeting so I call her to get the address. Her voicemail picks up so I leave a brief message including my # and ask her to call me back. Half hour later no answer. I call again, voicemail again. Another 25 minutes (Now its 5 minutes to date time) I call, voicemail again, so I leave another message. I even express concern that something isn't wrong. Half an hour later I call one last time. Voicemail again. Now I'm a bit pissed! I leave a stern (not rude or abusive, no swearing) telling her how disappointed I am and how unprofessional she is. I sent her an e-mail again asking what happened. I have yet to get a responce from her. Should be interesting to see if I get one.
I find this to be very rude and somewhat confusing considerring she is so highly thought of. It did end okay as I was able to get hold of one of my regulars and set up an appointment for later in the evening. Had a great time. I think I'll stick to my reliable ladies.

rule #1. there is no appointment til confirmation in the adultery biz

Life happens & sexy escapades are the first thing that get cut, often without explanation. Works both ways & happens WAY more often to us. Don't assume anything til the confirm call & you won't be disappointed in the future.

Your points are well taken ladies. I run my own business and there have been occasions when I've had to leave or cancel on short notice. In every case, I atleast call the client. I feel that even if something did come up she had my # (I had given it to her the day before when I initially phoned her) and could have called.
Oh well, it's over, 'nuf said.:p

I agree with Veronica's advice.....after all shit happens. But I have to also say it seems that there is an incredible amount of flakiness and unreliability within this profession...and probably the amongst clients too....more so then other service industries.....

Okay, maybe independent drywall contractors being the worst offenders

Your experience makes clear the importance of having reliable regulars (even as a backup should you decide to try a desirable but difficult to book SP.)

The super popular SP's are the ones you are likely to have problems like this with, because everyone is either trying to book with them or wasting the SP's time (and filling up their voicemail) with idle queries.

You were wise to avoid being rude or abusive when you left your last message, since that doesn't improve your chances of seeing her in the future.

:) To be fair Pantsnake, by definition an emergency doesn't allow one the time or ability to think about you. Case in point:

I have strict confirmation/booking guidelines however it isn't foolproof, a few presumptuous people get through. It's not my fault however that's another story another day, Something happened to my eye where it was swollen shut and painful. The only thing I could think of was get my caboose to the optometrist pronto instead of returning a phonecall...you see what I mean?

Why bother..

to even book in advance, if there is no appointment unless confirmed an hour in advance ? Yes, the ladies have a schedule they want to keep and a life outside of the industry, but so do the clients. So, since many of the SP's post schedules, guys why not check them and phone for an appointment an hour or so in advance ? If it works out for you, great. If not, move on to the next one. I've walked out on doctor's appointments, after my appontment time has passed and I'm still waiting. It doesn't hurt his bottom line because he was overbooked, but eventually, if enough people do it, he'll have an empty waiting room.

I don't care what business you are in....it is not only unprofessional, but completely unacceptable to be flaky. It both saddens and angers me that this is considered a quasi acceptable practice in the escort industry.

When you say you are going to do something...you do it. Come hell or high water. I don't care if it's no longer convenient to do so. You said you would and you do. Wanting to go out with friends, or having a better offer are not acceptable reasons for canceling an engagement. Don't book in advance if you aren't positive you can keep it. And for the record A MEETING IS SET WHEN YOU MAKE THE APPOINTMENT - OTHERWISE YOU WERE JUST CHECKING ON POSSIBLE AVAILABILTY.

Now, there are the occasional times when something major and legitimate comes up, and an appointment needs to be canceled. I have had this happen 3 times in the last seven years (so no, I don't understand how a girl can have emergencies on a weekly basis). That is why we take phone numbers. It's not so we can call you at all hours of the night. It is so we can let you know if there is an emergency and we can't keep the meeting (again, it had better be a damn good reason to cancel).

If there is an emergency, and you are unable to contact your engagements, at the very least take 20 seconds and do the following: change your voice message to a quick apology saying "due to unforeseen circumstances, I will be unable to take appointments or keep those already booked. My sincerest apologies"

Yes, I do request that a gentleman who has prebooked call me the week of, or when they get into town, or sometimes even the morning of....just to let me know that their schedule hasn't gone sideways. It IS CONFIRMED ON MY END FROM THE TIME THE APPOINTMENT IS FIRST MADE. I expect a gentleman to call and let me know if something changes....and of course I would do the same.

I really can't get my head around how people find it acceptable to waste other peoples time...or go back on their word. I fear for how these ladies are going to survive after the leave the industry and actually have to grow up and be responsible

Uh, I guess but then I don't think many SPs have a lot of free time on their hands to be making tentative appointments only to get stood up after putting in the time to get ready for the date. A confirmation call isn't a shortcut to back pedal but every SP has their own booking policy. It isn't right to force every SP to fit into one rigid booking policy just as this business can't be compared with any other service oriented business. It lives with its' own heart and soul and I think you can agree that this industry requires far more attention to detail as the very intimate nature of the trade calls for it if you want to ensure safety among other things.

If I knew that every potential client that calls to make an appointment for a future date would actually show up then I wouldn't ask for a confirmation call. I would imagine that those SPs that ask for a confirmation call have had a run in with a no show on more than one occasion.

It's quite a bit of trial and error in this industry with what works for you but it may not work for another. For example, I'm beginning to ask for a deposit for appointments made for a future date. A clients time is precious but I would like to be given the same consideration. I don't know if that kind if process would work for other SPs.

Having said all that, I absolutely agree that blowing off a client to party with friends is bologna! But it would be ideal to hear from the other party afterall there are two sides to the story. We have the responsibility to make an informed decision based from, in this case, both parties not just one.

Return the phone call...when you are able to.

I think we can all agree that the compromise between Client and SP is the confirmation call itself. It's out of our hands to make the client call to confirm just and it's out of our hands to make the SP pick up.

We can't make judgements based on one persons perspective of events.

We can't make comparisons on this business with other trades. As long as you are an independent SP, I'm assuming there isn't a revolving door booking policy, be mindful of your clients and take active responsibility.

Why can't you make comparisons with other trades. I don't know anyone in other "professional" trades who doesn't expect an appointment to be kept. Be a professional or be relegated to amatuer status.
