I'm just curious to how long do you wait to get tested? I was curious and asked special-ladies.com and they said every three months. Would a sp show her client her last test results?

I personally think that every three months for an SP is not enough .
As a client I did them every three months .. But I was not that active and usually was seeing the same lady

If they wan t to be safe catch any STD early then they should do it every month and so should active pooners My question would be why not, it is free.

Lol it varies from girl to girl I think. One girl I asked before said once a month. Another basically said never. Needless to say, decided to steer clear of the latter after that.

@the Meat Market!!!lol
if you are worried about it, practice safe sex...wear a condom!!! i like the comment about pooners being tested...why is the burden here always on us...? to the OP, how often do you get tested and would you be willing to show an sp your personal and private info by producing your clean bill of health test results....?

i personally don't need to worry about being outed because everyone already knows what i do, but for sp's who are in the closet exposing their personal and private information to a client can be dangerous.

the pooner now knows her real name.

not all pooners are gentlemen like the men on perb...ehemmm....some would use this information to extort or bully and sp into giving money or sexual favours to them.

so i guess my answer and advice is, no sp should ever share personal or private information with a pooner unless she is absolutely certain that he is trustworthy...even then.

in some countries sp's face mandatory std testing. a human rights violation. canadian sex workers have expressed we will never submit to such a biased and useless tactic. unless every single citizen of canada faced mandatory testing it will be totally ineffective in preventing the spread of std's. where do sp'd get std's....? from pooners...where do pooners get std's? from their wives. where do the wives get std's....? the milkman....and so on.

we are not the dirty sex hungry vector of disease, all human beings are.

sorry, that's the reality of this situation. i get tested every 3 months unless i feel i may have been exposed ( condom break ) then i get tested again. condom breaks are rare for me now as i am fairly experienced at this point...lol...a bit of an understatement i guess!!

I get mine once a month - I have to go once a month to the doctor to check up on my ashtma so I always do a blood/urine test as well as a throat swab. He says that it's too often but I don't care, I get it done anyways.

I ask my clients how often they get tested, most can't give me a straight answer. Safety goes both ways folks!!

Men - if you are nervous, there is no more q-tip up the urethra, it's all urinalysis now! Super easy, just hop by a clinic if you are embarrassed to ask your family doctor.

About as often as you get tested. Would you show your results to all SP's? How insulted would you be if this was turned around on you?

Just did that last week...test results take 4 days to return to you. They phone you if you are positive. They don't phone you if you are negative.

I have to admit, it does make one view incoming calls with a bit of trepidation for those 4 days...but it's nice when no one calls.

Agreed Vanesssa.

Every 2-3 months is efficient, because HIV takes at least 3 months to show up in your blood, so testing every month doesn't do a whole lot more to protect you. Getting tested really isn't that invasive, it's just one of those things you do, so I really don't understand why people wouldn't do it regularly. Testing plus proper condom use means almost no chance of getting STDs and passing them on, which means you can continue to have awesome sex ;)

Personalty If I knew a lady would want to see my STD test results . i have no problem showing them Just would have to get them from my doctor . Usually any girl i see know my real name .. , it is on my phone , They usually come to my place , and i have nothing to hide ..LOL

I understand you can get your STD result on line I am not sure where ,. But it may depend where you get them done .. If you go to the health clinic Or privet lab ,

Yes three months may be enough . If your sole concern is HIV ,but other STD only take a few days to few weeks to get symptoms , or have none at all .
If your not prating risky behavior and use a condom of course you are safer .. Certain behavior all ways have a risk some one has already been infected with an STD.. actual intercourse is not the only time there is risk of being exposed to other people bodily fluids .. I

It always come down to what is our acceptable risk factor.

Unfortunately there are too may lenny's floating around, thus testing is needed.
No effen kidding.

That guy gives me the heebie jeebies when I think about bbbj now, where I used to think in moderation and with testing every three months it wouldn't be such a big risk.
But if there is one guy who thinks the way he does, there will be others.. probably many right here in Vancouver, going to see the girls I used to see.

Scares the shit outta me, frankly, and makes me happy my partner and I rarely imbibe in the hobby.

The risk of having clients know an SPs name is far worse than the reverse. Not saying that some disreputable sps wont blackmail, stalk or extort, but ladies seem to have to deal with a lot more freaky shit than most pooners do. I understand that a lot of ladies would flat out refuse to show test results to clients- I myself wouldn't show my own to an sp. It's all about discretion. At any rate, I usually make an inquiry during the session (if it's my first time with a provider) about how regularly she gets tested. I myself get checked out every couple of months- condoms break, accidents happen, etc. All pooners and SPs should get checked out on a regular basis. The sooner you find out you have something, the better so you can treat it. Always good to nip something in the bud before you get full-blown warts sprouting up like alfalfa.

It seems to me that the frequency of testing needed would depend on:
(1) How often an SP saw clients (or the other way around).
(2) How risky the acts performed were.

A low volume high end independent would need a lot less testing than a micro slave girl catering to the bottom feeders for example.

Assuming micro slave girls actually get tested. Instead of taking them shopping and for lunch, maybe one of the bottom feeders should take them to the std clinic?

Happily Ever After!
Every month! Any girl providing DATY and bbbj's should be doing this every month, too.

Every two or 3 months provides lots of time to infect many people. It only takes once.

I will show you my results if you show me yours :)

I'll bet most SP's including independents never get tested for HIV. And even if they did, they might get tested once a year.

A number of SP's were shockingly unaware of the test. They assumed that just because the doctor gave them a PAP smear and took some of their blood, that they got an HIV test. WRONG.

There was a time when I took an SP to a clinic for her test. She had told me a month before that, that she had been tested before. During our trip to the clinic, I asked her if she had anything to eat yet today. She asked why... I answered because she might feel tired after they take all that blood out of you. She said, "a lot of blood, what??". I said, "they take 5 vials out of you for the HIV test". She looked at me dumbfounded, and said, "oh.". Later I questioned her about her previous test, and she said she lied, she had never had a test before... she just assumed it was done every few months when she saw the doctor for a PAP smear and he might have taken some blood too.

If you are going to get an HIV test, it's never done automatically unless you specifically ask for it, and I mean specifically. Unless you are a declared sex worker, a declared needle user, or a declared john, will they make the decision to prompt you to do a test without your bringing up the topic first. The test is expensive and requires lab time. No GP is going to give a girl a test every time she gets her PAP smear.

I'll bet many of the girls here who have said they got tested really didn't know.

For my part, I get tested every three or four months at Toronto's Hassle-Free Clinic, and I am always happy to show my results to clients who request them. Of course, I can do that because I'm fully out as a sex worker, and it doesn't cost me anything to get a copy of the results. They also provide the 30-second anonymous HIV test, so I can get my result on the spot.

Even though the assumption is that sex workers have higher rates of STIs, that's not usually the case. In fact, I always talk to the doctors at HFC about sex workers and STI knowledge, and they always tell me that the sex workers they see are much better educated about STIs than members of the general population. Why? Well, because - quite literally - it's our business to know! Take this anecdotal evidence however you please, but I'll take the word of the doctors at HFC over the word of pooners any day.

Most doctors will tell you that monthly testing is probably unnecessary, because the incubation period for HIV is longer than that (usually three months). Also, even if an SP becomes HIV-positive at some point during the three-month window, the chances of the SP spreading HIV to clients still remains quite low (assuming safer sex practices are followed) because of the very small viral load. The risk of seroconversion for sexual partners is related to the person's viral load, so if someone has only recently acquired HIV, they aren't as likely to transmit it to others.

Let's not forget that SPs are at much higher risk of contracting an STI from a client than the reverse, simply because of biological factors. Even if the condom breaks, it's much easier for an STI to be transmitted to the person being penetrated, rather than the person doing the penetrating... so it's kind of ridiculous to put the entire burden of testing on SPs. Sexual health is everyone's responsibility - play safe and play smart!
