I was wondering, how many CEO's we have here, I'm proud of you guys!
I had great time tonight, good dinner, a few glasses of a good wine and I'm happy!

I am a CEO. Unfortunately in my case that means "Chief Escort Oogler". Ha Ha. Regardless, I am delighted that you are proup of me. I had a crappy time tonight, a mediocre dinner, but ditto on the wine. So your sense makes perfect post to me. ^giggle^

Beverly Hills. In the Kitchen eatin' vittles.
I own 2 of my own businesses so I guess that makes me a CEO ;). But then again it also makes me the guy who works 6 days a week, gets no overtime, works on holidays because something needs to get done, the guy who gets called @ 2 am when some little thug breaks a window or the basement floods. LOL!

I can relate Jethro Bodine. Although I own the businesses and hire CEOs many times I feel I have to step in to do thier jobs. Some people think we got all the glory. We just have to deal with the pain of the buck stops here.

Methinks InTheBum had his "tongue in cheek" bigtime!!

I was a bigtime CEO until I sold my companies to an international NY-based corporation. That is, I was still a bigtime CEO until several years after the sale, when I was given the "Golden Handshake"!

A socially-responsible CEO leads a delicate balance. Between employees, profit and alloting social time for family and friends (other than business associates/friends). Anybody who figures that CEO translates into "top of the heap" is truly naive. The old adage: Closer to the top comes with being closer to the exit door!

Decision-making that impacts employees continued employment never was without potential discomfort.

What I am trying to say is that the bucks may be great, but those bucks often come at a personal cost. It ain't the proverbial BED OF ROSES that a lot of folks assume.

So what you up to now bigguy? I often wonder once you been at the top of the org chart what is next? Most of the CEOs I had working for me who do not work for me anymore ended up consulting. I never paid my CEOs that kind of money. I paid good 6 figures but my companies are not that big.

You?

I'm starting a farm, I'm sole proprietor. I guess that makes me the CEO, cause I'm Chief Excrement Officer.

Yo Dickson:

This was back in late 1990's. I already had other "irons in the fire" and the exit was a blessing. Otherwise, I would most probably have deceased years ago if I had been provided the opportunity by the acquirer to continue my "insane" work habits.

I took a year off, discovered Powells in Portland and spent the following year on my roof deck overlooking False Creek reading (and re-reading) books by authors I just had not provided time for! We are talking Steinbeck, Hemmingway, Michener and Updike all of whom i assembled a library of their complete works.

Following a period when I was a controlling shareholder of a then VSE-listed company (which failed), I morphed into the consultancy thing which provided me the opportunity to head down to San Diego on a regular basis focussing on public companies and associated offshore transactions. That sums it up.
