Waaaay back in the prehistoric days I was reading the Vancouver Sun newspaper (remember those?) and there was an article about the escort scene in Vancouver and it referenced PERB. I of course checked it out at my office the next day and here I am I have no idea many years later. It's been a very fun ride.
I do think there were more "characters" back in the day. The board has become somewhat drier. But, still a daily addiction (when I'm at work) I enjoy.
Dinosaurs unite! Way back in the 90’s I enjoyed various chat boards and sites where there were basicly no pics, no advertisers, no trolls, just good old live chat. It was a great time, as the witt and imagery was excellent. It was a bit tricky to keep up with 5 or 6 simultaneous conversations on the same screen though, but the live room banter was all we had and it was addictive.
There were also interesting meetups and munches with cool and weird people. Met a hot bangin babe that flirted with me on-line and we had tremendous steamy dates for a while. My handle was different then, and no I’m not telling. Sites like alt, fetlife, and others emerged, but eventually the live chat diminished to be replaced by non-live lounges and sites with more content, but using serial monologue engines. V-bulletin was a game-changer for the new era of chat rooms. The advantage was your posts didn’t dissappear overnight, but the live experience faded. Fred Zed got in with it early, bless him. I lurked for a year or so then joined around 2002 so I could engage in the convo. Back then, it wasn’t perb cc, but it was still perb. The early days were more about chat, info sharing, cool conversations you couldn’t have in public. There was little to no advertising, few rules, and reviews were just starting to build. It was The mix of folks and the lounges on the board from ‘01-‘08 was the best of Perb imho. The decorum was more respectfull, gentlemanly, inquisitive, and sexy.
I miss those days.
Great thread. Thanks.
