How Do You Drive?

INFORAPENNY said:
Obviously Scotty you have not spent much time behind the wheel in Vancouver. Between the tourists, Starbucks addicts, people who can't steer and talk at the same time, new drivers and kids whose parents bought them a hot car that they have no idea what to do with, every day is RR day! And that is just duing the week. God help anyone who asks me to drive on a weekend when all those fools want to actually stop at every strip mall, which is of course on the other side of the street.
LOL I have an office in Vancouver, but I still don't find them as bad as in Calgary.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, whenever I am in Calgary I am either at the glof course, strip club, bar or Stampede. So I let someone else do the driving.

I have to go with Scotty on this one...I make about 6 trips a year to each city ( that is vancouver and cowtown) and i am far more scared driving in cowtown with the psychos than in vancover. ;)

When I die, I want to go peacefully in my sleep like my great-uncle...not screaming and crying like the three passengers in his car...

Vanc Drivers

Lived in Vanc the past 8 years, actaully White Rock and the Grey hair over the steering wheel is a real sight, but you forgot the red three wheel carts with the dune buggy flag on the back. Picture that with the morning paper, a box of depends in the basket in the front and some old fart rushing to Safeway to get there first for all the free samples.

Don't get in his way!

I like to drive fast, really fast..........but I'm always concentating on my driving. I was in Edmonton a couple weeks ago and while driving on the Whitemud, I came up on a driver who appeared to be drunk(swerving, speeding up then hitting the brakes) as I passed him I saw a portable DVD player on his dash  the puke was watching a movie while driving on the freeway

Scotty, about Calgary... I spent a month there when I came over to do some work... even with Vancouver as my background, I came to HATE 16th! :|

I had to drive from just before the Deerfoot trail to basically 16th & Crowchild every day....late in the day because of long work hours... and that street never seems to move any time except at 5:30 am in the morning. What's up with that?

I swear, there were days when I figured I could walk that street faster...

Well, my biggest beef is that they took all the sensible side roads around there and messed them up. I can't think how many times I was toodling along nicely only to come across a random road block, no entry sign or other method of preventing any traffic flow.

So basically, they redesigned the surrounding streets to funnel all traffic BACK onto 16th, to FURTHER increase traffic difficulties....

You should have tried 17th SW at ruch hour. There's barely room on each side for cars, plus they are parked on the street. People run from between cars all the time.
City planners must have dipped into some of that herb from BC when they were planning the streets here.

Never started on the herb, never plan on starting as well. Don't smoke, don't drink much. I'm certainly a lackluster human being with far too few entertaining stories to show for it :p
