You can edit/delete any thread that you start within a certain time frame, after that the best way to delete a thread is to ask a mod to do it for you.
You can delete threads with any amount of replies, that's why you'll occasionally see people go from say 500 posts to 450 posts... posts they have responded to got deleted.
