How do I make this car go?

I drive a Honda Del Sol that I'm consistently trying to make go faster. I've done all the standard mods (intake, exhaust, cam, fuel pump, etc.) but it still doesn't move like I want it too. Apart from dropping in another engine, how can I make this thing go? :)

try adding Header, maybe a carbon fiber hood.... better yet, buy a new RSX type-S and sup that puppy up... ;-)

You could buy a real vehicle.

Some cars come in MEN's sizes too.

My sister loves the Del Sol, but likes making fun of her boyfriend when he has to drive it.

Well you know the first thing I would recommend is trying a Mopar
Big Block, 383-440 cubic inches should to the trick, if that don't
help then would recommend a crate Hemi and top if off with an
injected and blown intake !! :D

Seriously though, you've done all the standards and there isn't really
much help in that department without doing some real engine work,
porting heads, larger valves and such and higher comp pistons.

Other than that turbo charging it or adding nitrous is about the only
other thing you can do to make a significant difference.
There is also performance software you can get for a laptop that
you plug into your onboard computer for changing different
peramitters.

Have fun man.........Light 'em up !!

Thanks for the info, I'll try the headers but I'm not sure I want to enter into the expense of lightening the car. I'll consider the RSX suggestion. As for all you naysayers, I like my Del Sol, it always starts and gets me where I want to go, unlike some other makes.

Thanks Quartermiler :) I think I'll try the computer thing, seems there are several mods of this out there, but I was always skeptical about their effects. Again thanks. Much appreciated :)

If you've got the B16A motor, it's not really a good street motor... if you have one of the SOHC motors in there, junk it for the DOHC B18B or B18C... a stock B18B in that Del Sol would work wonders... even with just bolt on mods. In other words, drop another engine in it... if u want stock reliabilty.

I've got a DOHC motor but I don't want to drop another engine in at this point. The expense (to me) suggests another vehicle. Infinite G35 or such, but I'm not ready to expend the finances. I prefer to put it into this house so I can get a reasonable return. :) At this point I just want to go fast in my little car:cool:

lower the gearing ... nothing gets you moving faster!

you can add all the hp you want but too tall gearing (great for fuel economy and highway driving) will slow you down in accelleration.

Thanks Ghost, I'll take your advice. I wasn't aware of the info regarding gears. Frankly, it's the first I've heard of it. Again, thank you :)

With the B16A motor and trans, you've already got SUPER short gears... it doesn't get much better than the gears u got... in fact, Honda had to purposely gear it like that because the motor is so weak... without the gearing, that thing would feel even more like a slug.

Some Dude on my street about 10 houses down has a Nissan Skyline in his driveway. :)

I suggest find a car forum to do with del sols. If you can't the Acura Integra site has information falling out of it's ass on how to jazz up yer ride.

I actully had a 95 del sol.. last year they made them...

fun car to drive, nice and light, and fast. had until last year when I bought a new 2005 rsx type-S.

I know what you mean about the reliable aspect of the car... I never once had any kind of problem with my del sol... that thing would always start and 7 years after i bought it, i still got a great value when I sold.

here are some websites that might help you...

Swap the engine man....A integera GSR engine will give you some crazy power in your little car....And if you really are nuts....got get a turbo system installed..

it really depends on how much cash u wanna dump in it...

Altezza's add HP man!..add the biggest wing you can find and lots of stickers to make it even faster.

Seriously though, Aside from adding some boost or some serious internal work your at the limit for simple bolt on power. Easiest way to make it faster is to make it lighter. Small things will add up..lighter seats, stearing wheel, hell you could even take out the spare tire and jack if you wanted to.

Horsepower costs money..how fast do you want to go?
