How do I add an avatar to my profile?

When i go to settings, edit avatar, the only option i have is "Do not use avatar". is there a way to use your own avatars? thanks

I believe only paying advertisers get to include an avatar these days. The non paying members that have avatars are the ones who signed up in the early days of perb when anyone could have an avatar and their settings have carried through to today as far as I know.
