Sure, we are too stupid for ourselves. We need to be told what to do and protected from ourselves from cradle to grave. Sorry but that is the biggest piece of left wing, elitist crap there is. Thinking like that is what creates dictatorships.

Maybe if we stopped blaming everyone else for our problems and starting taking personal responsiblity (there's that right wing shit again) these things wouldn't happen.

Democracy does not work: the average joe is too dumb and too apathetic to deserve a vote, and will always be manipulated by the equally stupid media, self-serving corporations, corrupt politicians, etc. Case in point is the United States: out of 43 presidents, maybe one or two were true leaders. Out of a country of 350 million people, you'd think that someone with real vision and talent could be picked that was supreme above all the sheeple. It's not that way in sports - the cream always rises to the top. But because we have democracy and equal vote to everyone no matter how much they don't deserve it, we often get bad results.
Well I guess you being a average Joe. You just told us you are dumb. Clinton was a rhoades scholar, so he wasn't dumb. Were you a RS ? I think not. Your way of thinking fits Attila the Hun . I think its time for you to put some shades on . The self generated spotlights are frying what little brain you have left.

One of my coworkers showed me this a few months ago. I don't think this test is valid because it can't tell if you are contradicting yourself. Answering by coin tosses I got this:

Your Political Profile:

Overall: 55% Conservative, 45% Liberal

Social Issues: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal

Personal Responsibility: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal

Fiscal Issues: 75% Conservative, 25% Liberal

Ethics: 75% Conservative, 25% Liberal

Defense and Crime: 75% Conservative, 25% Liberal

How Liberal Or Conservative Are You?

I initially answered picking the second item for each question) and got the following. The problem here is it shouldn't be skewed one way or the other it should just be 50 / 50 IMO (ie no selection bias):

Your Political Profile:

Overall: 35% Conservative, 65% Liberal

Social Issues: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal

Personal Responsibility: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal

Fiscal Issues: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal

Ethics: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal

Defense and Crime: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal

Wow, I thought your personal responsibility would be higher Conservative. I find your Ethics quite high on the liberal, but then it could be because you support legalizing prostitution? Interesting, though you and I probably agree this poll is too simplistic.

Don't we already live under Technocracy?
The politicians (most of them are the rich) serving the super rich make and allow for litigation that favors their own caste. It seems that the liberals in the general population are often too apathetic to do anything in terms of political change in most situations, and those average Joes leaning to the right are easily fooled into thinking that right wing policies will favor them. The estate tax is a good example among a series financial and economic legislations, most (if not all) seems to be designed to benefit the top 0.1% with billions and triple digit millions. Therefore, the rule is currently with the educated elite, but this all depends on what we mean by benevolent (for whom) and educated (for what). Also, how would benevolence be ensured? Certainly not by education alone because the current dominant culture, that 0.1%, are definitely well educated, but I have no faith that they are benevolent by any means.
Finally, an intelligent response to my post on Technocracy. Yes, in a sense we already live in one.... in the way you describe. It's quite an irony that you've pointed out. However, I disagree that the current rule is by the educated elite. I think it is more by the economic elite, and they are only making educated choices with regard to their power and economic advantage.

As for your question on how benevolence would be ensured, to counter the rule by elite there would be a "people's congress" - that is, a congress of locally elected officials that gather to voice a counter opinion and give direction to the elite in terms of social ethics.

I didn't tell you that you are dumb, but since you volunteered....! Oh wait, you misspelt "Rhodes". The "rhoades" you were probably thinking of was that head-banger guitar player Randy Rhoads, the only kind of Rho(a)des you could possibly have any inkling of. Oh I forgot, you probably misspelt that on purpose to fool us all anyhow, right? Damn, outwitted once again by that self-admitted mental lab experiment.

"Rhodes" scholarship, the one associated with Oxford university, as in http://www.rhodesscholar.org/ is not "rhoades" - the one you wrote about. I don't know what "source" you were referring to, but you probably weren't checking any sources at all. So as to you saying I got it "wrong again", you got it wrong and can not admit it even in the face of evidence presented directly to you. Worst thing is, not only can you not admit a wrong, you have to slander those you argue against. You could have been right if you had bothered to look at the first line of a google result for "rhodes scholarship". And as for your preaching to me humility, you should be one to speak as slandering someone when you are wrong is not humble at all. Furthermore, you take it upon yourself to think I am slandering Canadians, but in fact I made no mention of Canadians whatsoever. In fact, I denigrated Americans for their stupidity/apathy when I spoke of Technocracy in this thread.

Thanks for the insincere well wishings for the New Year. I hope you take my advice and grow a brain for the new one.

There is no way this test is completely accurate. I'm pretty positive that my beliefs are more socially aware than what the results show. And there is no way my feelings towards the justice system can be 25% conservative.

Your police ARE assholes. Look at what they did to the MP girls.

Alright then. Peace. But if you fire the first salvo next year, there will be forever war.
