The quiz is based on a false American-news-show style interpretation with no grey areas, and forces bad choices in too many instances. A few questions are completely based on US politics, and have nothing to do with Canadian choices -- i.e., public education, simplistic choices on Social Security and national finances. I would say that I am 100% "liberal," yet it shows me as 15% conservative (and the calculation of "personal responsibility" must be totally skewed for a limited attention span). In total: inaccurate and misleading.

Not that its relevant to you, but I am an independent business owner who has never got a dime from the government -- never collected EI, never had a government contract or grant, and paid back my student loans. So much for stereotypes.

And one of my biggest pet peeves is the false divide between "liberal" and "conservative" perpetuated by the media. It is tearing our neighbors apart, and is being exported here.

The thing is, if you lock up all the high income earners (right wing) in the gulag, what are you gonna do without any doctors to treat the drug addicts that are left or lawyers to keep the criminals that are left out of jail?

I KNEW there was a reason I thought 5000 Lawyers in Cement Overshoes at the bottom of Burrard Inlet was an excellent idea.

In my experiance, there are just as many left wing as right wing Doctors, Lawyers, etc. Where there seems to be the biggest seperation is in Business Owners, Managers, etc. It seems that if you get paid anyway, there is a fairly even division of Left leaning vs right leaning. If you don't get paid for failure, the majority will be right leaning.

I couldn't answer the education question as it was too american for my poor canadian brain so I left it blank. But my results line up somewhat with my social libertarian (except crime) but fiscal conservative bent.

Well done! Both of these quizzes are far more valuable, and actually offer insight into political philosophies. Even the very short quiz has some accurate choices without the obvious bias of the first one in the thread. (They also accurately reflect my own standing as a mix of left-liberal and libertarian.)

I believe in Technocracy. Benevolent rule by the educated elite. There would be no such thing as left or right, liberal or conservative, libertarian or statist. Only the advancement of society matters.

Democracy does not work: the average joe is too dumb and too apathetic to deserve a vote, and will always be manipulated by the equally stupid media, self-serving corporations, corrupt politicians, etc. Case in point is the United States: out of 43 presidents, maybe one or two were true leaders. Out of a country of 350 million people, you'd think that someone with real vision and talent could be picked that was supreme above all the sheeple. It's not that way in sports - the cream always rises to the top. But because we have democracy and equal vote to everyone no matter how much they don't deserve it, we often get bad results.
