How are you guys doing with the summer heat waves?

I got heat exhaustion yesterday at work. I work in the construction industry. Its never happened to me before.

A lot had to do with not getting enough sleep this week because of the hot nights. I live in an old buildings, with no ventilation and no A/C. It sucks. I really hope the seniors are okay.

Make sure your union is holding the employer accountable to providing a safe work environment as well.

Never made such good quality hay, in such a short drying time.
I will normally rake twice and start bailing….this year I let it cook until I was about to bale, raked it once into manageable windrows and fired up the baler.
Even my seasoned employees, who have been haying for 35 year’s couldn’t believe it.
To manage the heat we just jumped in the creek with our clothing on every few hours.
Living at a very high elevation, we will get extreme temps during the day for a good part of the summer, but at 3000 feet the nights can drop to 8 degrees on a regular basis, giving some relief.

Make sure to stay hydrate. Water or something with electrolytes.

I also work construction. Luckily for me and my crew lately, our work is on the inside of the barn we are building. Still, I pack Gatorade with my food and we have a working water supply if needed.

Being a "glass half full" kind of guy I can think of a few benefits of the recent hot, dry weather:

1) Almost no mosquitos.
2) I have not mown my lawn in several weeks (I hate yard work).
3) Hotties walking the streets in short shorts.

2) I have hey for sale if anybody has horses. Maybe that's why I get all those "hey" messages lately that's all ppl see outside
3) those hotties should wear szexi sandals showing their nice toes instead of sweating in boots

I had to work outside on Wednesday and Thursday, it was pretty brutal. Put a wet towel underneath the hardhat to protect my face and neck and it helped a lot. Would have passed out otherwise.

Wet towel. Gotta try that. I know pple hate the cloudy summer days as do I. But I'm happy for the roadside workers. Laying around the summer heat and working in the heat are totally different things.

Thanks for the reminder. I wanted to quickly finish my work and go home early on Friday, but I payed the price.

Lesson learned.

I LOVED THE HEAT THIS SUMMER !! Summer is my favourite season, and we sure got a solid dose of Vitamin D

I'm sad that its coming to an end, but I'm also of fan of the colours in fall paired with the crisp air and Coronation Grapes.

Honestly after I got better I too loved this summer. Its kinda rare we get summers like this. I think its gonna be cold winter this year as well.

I love the fall as well. The air is so crisp you can taste it, and the apples and pears are perfect during the fall.

Im always a bit sad to have summer end, but I too love the crisp air, and colours of Fall. Plus the apples and coronation grapes. My favourite grapes
