A wonderful Toronto based SP that I know reached out to me looking for an affordable Vancouver hotel that allows access to guest rooms without a key card.

The only one we could find was the Rosedale on Robson but it’s sold out on one of the nights that she is looking to be here.

Does any one have any suggestions of hotels that are “friendly” or any alternative venues she might consider for dates in October. Truly “asking for a friend!” :)

I had a non p4p night at the pan pacific a year ago and I don’t remember having to use the keycard in the elevator but I may be mistaken. A bonus for that property is the actual lobby is two floors up and one need not walk past it to access the elevator which is right past the bellman. There’s also a Starbucks right there and yeah come to think of it you could meet and or enter on the ground, convention centre, lobby level or even at the spa down on the cruise ship level without leaving the public access areas. I used to work in high end hospitality and they don’t care unless the activity interferes with other guests.

I’ve yet to use expensive hotels for SP visits but if I were to I’d just call and ask well ahead about the elevator, key card etc...it’s not uncommon.

Century Plaza, Blue Horizon (I think), Four Seasons if she’s willing to spend more.

Chateau Granville and Holiday Inn on Howe are also good and don't require a key card, I've used them. Century Plaza for sure, and Rosedale. I think also Westin Grand but I'm not positive. I also think that Moda and Sutton Place are good too.
