So what will they accept? Personally I'd like to know. It seems like you've figured out a way to be discrete.
Canada Post Cash Passport prepaid Master Card will work, and you can stay relatively anonymous. There are fees to get it, re-load it and use it but it's the cost of discretion I guess, and in my position it is absolutely necessary.
When you buy it at a Canada post outlet they do need ID to register it but your name isn't on it. You can load it with cash, I started with $500 they didn't blink an eye. After that you can load it with cash any time.
It definitely works to book a hotel online, and any hotel I've used it at swipes it for the room charges with no problems. I've used it at several hotel brands from high end business places to motels.
Hotels do need ID now (every one I've used in the past year asks for it at check in, even ones where I'm a rewards member) so staying anonymous isn't possible, but at least you can keep things hidden on the home front.
