I'll make this one short. A good friend of mines daughter has been mixed up with the wrong crowd for the last year and a half. He told me she was now living in the downtown eastside, and sadly enough, there is nothing they can do about it now that she is an adult (his exausted words of 18 months). I saw her today up on Franklin and Victoria, and she looked very sick and fraile...major WTF!!!! I kind of got sick to my stomach, and had to leave the area, as I could'nt believe what I was seeing. Sorry for posting such a tale, but it really @!#!$!% me up. Sometimes these scenarios present themselves, and you can't help but see a different side of things. Won't be down for awhile.:(

I have a friend who I give computer support to, and he has a 15-16 yr old daughter and she has pretty much given up on school and pretty much fukks off for the whole day and night with out telling her parents where she has gone. Her dad has to get on the horn and phone her friends parents to see if they have any idea where she is.

She hasn't goten into drugs that I can tell nor is she anywhere near being swept up in the forgotten youth of the track, but she has started smoking, which to me unless she does a major 180 with her atutude she's almost there.

Thanks for the responses guys. The only reason I did not pick her up and take her home to the folks, is because her dad has been doing just that for the past year, and nothing has worked. I believe I will stop and talk to her next time I see her though... Hope it turns around for them.

Sorry to hear of this ... But for God's sake do something, anything to get her off the street, even for a little while. Today would have been as good as any day. Sometimes they need to hear from someone who ain't so close. Maybe that someone is you, maybe it's someone else. It's a lot like a lottery, you can't win if you don't play. Best of luck to you Mr Wolf. I hope she gets it together as well.

Mr. Wolf, maybe take a social worker with you to speak with her, you don't want to just pull up and talk, LE may take it the wrong way.

I am not sure about out there but in Manitoba we have "safe houses" for teenagers that run away from home for one reason or another!is there not any places like that where you live? This girl must be taken out from off the street and brought to such a place, she is probably in such a scene because of what she see's her father doing!but please mr.Wolf please at least fid her a safe house where they have people that she can talk with!

There's nothing you can do to help this girl except encourage her to detox. Meanwhile, i suggest all pooners who patronize drug addicted street girls take a hard look in the mirror and realize that patronizing these girls only enables their self destructive behavior.

I thought she was just smoking ciggarettes people? If she isn't doing drugs then fuck detox!! That will send her to the drug pushers for sure. Obviously none of you have seen the detox facility downtown. Girls like her need love or an ass kicking. Figure it out.
