I'm sure there are a few watch enthusiasts on this board. I'm curious - what watch is the pride of your collection, and have you attached some sort of significance to its purchase? Does it signify to you the marking of a beginning (a birth, a new job), an end (a death, a divorce), or something completely non-time related?

You might be interested in that Pierre Poilievre has quite a watch collection;
  • Rolex Submariner, $70K
  • Patek Philippe Nautilus, $120K gift
  • A.Lange & Sohne Lange, $45K
  • Omega Speedmaster, $6.5K gift
  • IWC Portugieser, $15K

And oldshark just bought a Maxwest MX-Fit21 for $59.00 today from London Drugs. Unfortunately i don't have $25 million. Must be nice to be a politician..................

Farer Aqua Compressor Endeavour Titanium

The titanium makes it incredibly light for a 41.5 mm watch -- weighing in at a mere 92 grams.

300 meters of water resistance.

The watch is all black except for the white lettering, numbers and hands. It's a very simple yet bold contrast. Looks great in the dark as the white lumen paint really pops out of the black background.

Not an expensive watch (about $1200 US new) and it doesn't look expensive, but it's a quality build and extremely comfortable to wear.

I have a number of dead high-end watch knock-offs adorning my garage workbench. Kind of like a who’s who of overpriced timepiece clones. I just could bear to toss them. I had a real rolex when I was a kid 50+ years ago. They were relatively cheap back then, and durabilty was the thing, not showing off your cocaine potential to your buddies. I have an antique Longines, but I am not sure there is a market for such an ancient watch. It was a big thing at the time, but likely never wear it again.

Nowadays, I never want to wear a watch again as long as I live. There are better options to tell the time than being ego-shackled to a douche-brand. However, I do love the old train conductor movies where the dapper dude eloquently slides his master timepiece on a gold chain from his upper vest pocket, and projects within seconds when the 352 from Boston will arrive. Ahhhh, those were the days for a good watch.

No idea. Just comes from some sort of asset list. Pretty substantial gifts. If I gave something of that value to one of our fine ladies, I think that I would get an amazing lot of pooning. :sneaky:

And you somehow wear this Model X on your wrist?

I guess my model X with everything extra was 175,000 gifted by my mentor.

I have a more expensive car now but it was the largest $ gift I ever got and felt I earned

Varies now
3 USD rolex off the street in Chongqing. Guaranteed for five feet or five minutes. It lasted six minutes so I couldn't get my money back.

I own a watch that was handmade sometime in the 1950s. I won it at an an antique auction for $1100 over 20 years ago. I It had been fully restored and everything. I wear it sometimes only, at suit and tie events. I got it appraised back in 2011, and it was valued $25,000.

I'm sure if I was to get it appraised now it would probably be higher in value.

I have a few, Armourlite, Marathon, Momentum. Hamilton. Seiko.

The Momentum (Vancouver HQ) is my daily wear now and has a lot of good features for the price. With only two things I don't like.

I always wanted a Rolex, but I don't like the business model they run. Nor the dude-bros who seems to flaunt them. My current Grail watch is an Omega Seamaster, but even that is pricy and I don't think I'd be able to enjoy it.

A guy out on Ontario is building replica style watched of the bigger brands with Seiko parts, and can assemble one in the style I want for a fraction of the cost. I might buy that and be done.

Speaking of which I need to send two back for servicing.

Momentum, very interesting. I wasn't aware of them. Might just have to add them to the list. Support local. I was just on their site and I like the looks of their Atlas collection.

Speaking of Canadian, I definitely plan to buy a Marathon at some point.

Hamiltons rock. One of my favourite brands.

I have the wayfarer GMT with the full lume dial. Great features for the price.

Love my Hammy always gets great comments when out.

I want a Marathon MSAR white dial but I just can't bring myself to spend that much either. And I'm on my 3rd field watch of theirs, but it feels good on the wrist.

I’m a Momentum guy as well. Had a Tag and a Seamaster sitting in a drawer for years and just recently sold them; thought I would wear them but just never did. I’ve worn the same Momentum (or St Moritz as they used to be known) for 20 years. Still keeps perfect time and it’s indestructible. In water, or out. If you’re looking for a great, moderately priced ($200-$500) time piece this Canadian company is a great option. Their HQ is a heritage house down on W 7th Ave in Fairview slopes. They have a display area and often have sales on their merch. I stop in every few years to get a battery changed and they’re awesome folks. Once they had to keep my watch for a couple of days and they even gave me a loaner. It’s dangerous to stop in because I tend to walk out with a new watch. Haha. Why not? A lot of their product in the showroom is discounted 50%, so you can pick up a new $400 watch for $200. I’ve been eyeing their line of solar-faced rechargeable diving watches. The tech said that the battery is probably good for 20 years if worn every day…. Hmmmm.

For pooning, I find a wrist watch essential as I like to keep track of the time. Often the SP will be facing the clock so she can gauge the time, and looking at my phone would be strange. I just spin the bezel to the start time and away we go. I’m not sure if the inventor of the bezel intended it to track pooning time, but it sure works well. Haha

One time, I was at an incall and the clock on the wall was set 10 minutes ahead of the time on my wrist. I don’t know if it was deliberate or not but I never went back even tho the provider was great with everything else and I had seen her a few times.

So much dick swinging about worth and not much about functionality, reliability, and style. Sure Rolexes are rock solid pieces of reliability but it doesn't sound like that's the reason you guys have one.

I'm mostly a functional kind of guy. I wear field watches with the occasion swap to a leather wristband when I need to head into the office. My favourite currently is my Timex Men's Expedition Scout. Big numbers in a stylish font, in a cream dial face. Gun metal casing that goes well with a dark cloth or leather wrist band depending on occasion. It just keeps ticking accurately forever. You'd think it was synched to the ITS.

I have a couple of Mr Jones and AARK watches that are just fun. Exposed gears and unique face design.

The resale value of all this is probably zero but I'm good with that. When people see me wearing it , I don't want them to think "oh he has money", I want them to think "who the hell wears watches anymore... But it does look pretty cool..."

Anyone with a Grand Seiko? I don't have one yet, but I plan on getting one on my trip to Japan in a few months.

I love their dial designs and their spring drive movement with that smooth sweeping second hands is just mesmerizing.
