I agree to a certain extent, burts is good but you have to know the business, example. Clutch packs and seal kits for tran rebuilds come from about $80 to $250 because of different quality, But Gm will sell you a bearing for a impala for $20 and exact same bearing for a caddy for $40. you really have to know the ins and outs of each genre. I'm lucky because I've a network of friends in the automotive trade that run from a clap of thunder to a babys fart. Comes in real handy. No one mechanic knows it all, but if he knows that and has friends , he can help lots

AJ Transmission in North Vancouver as well. My parents went there after going first to Amco (*shudder*) and Horsepower (*shudder*) and have been very happy with the service.

It is difficult here in Edmonton to find an honest transmission shop:rolleyes: . Two years, I owned a 1986 S-10 Blazer with 400,000 km and I was looking for a reliable transmission shop:rolleyes: .
I had alot over-rated estimates for repairs to my transmission:eek:
Anyways, I was lucky to have a friend as a mechanic. He overhauled my transmission and charged for the new parts and a steak dinner with trimmings.
He also recommended to me best place in Edmonton and it was privately owned business where you had to pay cash but he gave you a written guarantee for 180 days.

The best preventive medicine for AT is to change Tran Fluid at least as often as recomended, The biggest killer of AT is getting stuck, ie snow ,ice mud. The fluid loses its lubricating properties when overheated, and tranny explodes, causing major damage and major money.

Yes, I was following the owners manual and I was getting my transmission serviced which included fluid change every 80,000 km at the GM dealership.
The GM dealership recommended I replace the entire transmission:eek: . My overhaul was not a major on I but required more detailed work, more than I had expected. Most of my mileage was highway driving.

Blackwells on Scott road is very good to deal with.

Norm at Mainland is also very good to deal with, i worked at a wrecker and we always sent our customers there and never heard anything bad about him.
