News cycle has come and gone...Trump hasn't and nobody has started building the road for him to leave on.

Did you hear the speech? I did. Every word. Flake also said that he will dedicate his remaining 14 months in Senate to getting rid of Republican complicity with Trump's cruelty, indecency & what Bob Corker called "the debasement of our nation". He also said "Mr President: ENOUGH." Who did he mean, if not Trump?

The US Financial sector has successfully repealed the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/10

A couple of things become clear. 1. We are looking at a repeat of 2008 - 2009 in the near term. 2. There won't be a bailout for Consumers. In fact, the Financial sector has ensured that they will be able to collect all that they lent to Consumers.

The Consumer Retail sector is already responding. Lords and Taylor (part of Hudsons Bay) has sold their New York property. They are leasing back some space on the ground floor, but the building is being converted to office space.

The Banks clearly are unwilling to support retailers like HBC and Sears with any additional loans. I think that we will see Chrysler go bankrupt again by the end of next year, likely also GM.

Read it with an open mind and come to your own conclusions - nothing is easy and no decisions come without consequences. Want everything built in the US? Pay more for it, or continue to keep people beaten down with low wages and shitty working conditions. Want higher wages/QOL? Watch companies leave to drive down costs. Want to penalize out-of-country companies for their own low wages/prices? Standby for trade wars that limit our ability to export. [this is all spoken from a US perspective, but due to the huge trade links between US & Canada, many of the same issues apply here too]

I've seen the whole speech but apparently The WH and other Republicans isn't paying Flakes any heed or caring about his position. Most news network is just talking about him not running again or pointing to Clinton's involvement in "fabrication or aiding the Russia story"...

So it seems the News spin machination is doing its job again and in a few weeks, no one will remember this man's impassioned speech.

I agree and add that until Republican's who ARE seeking re-election get on board with the Dem's to fix the problem staring everyone in the face; it will be unchanged for the foreseeable future.

I was a die-hard Bernie supporter until I found out how the DNC royally (and illegally, how come the mainstream media doesn't report that? Or have people enacting on these things? Also, only democrats have Super-PACs, what!?!?) ****ed him out of being the candidate.

Lots of bitter people voted for Trump as he is the most likely candidate to bring sweeping changes to the political landscape - for good or for ill, the system has utterly failed Bernie (who has done basically everything right in his life).

Trump's support from the GOP will disappear if/when the 2018 midterms are a wipeout, unless he just gets fed up and quits.

Yeah, they are mostly opportunists, so in deference to the across-the-board victory he brought them, they'll ride his coattails no matter how much shit he smears on them - but I'm sure they also would be quick to backstab him if 2018 ends with a Democrat triumph.
Realistically, until / unless it ends in a midterm win for the Democrats, all this talk about impeachment is pointless - if the GOP controls the House and Senate they will never turn on a GOP president because they think victory justifies anything Trump does or says.

If you aren't watching the news right now, you should be. I am pretty sure that Jeff Flake is about to invoke articles to impeach Donald Trump...this isn't a drill, people, this is history in the making. If you aren't listening to this, you are missing out. This is the most important speech I have ever heard made from the senate floor.

I generally am not a big fan of Republicans, but lately I have come to admire and respect three Republican senators -- Jeff Flake is one of them. The other two are Bob Corker and John McCain.

Flake's speech may not necessarily lead to Trump's impeachment (but Robert Mueller's evolving investigation on Russia's role in 2016 presidential election campaign may very well). Nevertheless, for a Republican senator to speak on the floor of the Senate to slam the president from his (or her) own party is unprecedented. It's not a small thing.

I think Flake and Corker should reconsider decision to not run in 2018. And McCain should defeat cancer.

America has never had a president who has debased his country like Trump. His presidency has not really begun -- he is still in a political campaign mode. His only goal is to preach to his base. I doubt he will ever rise to the stature of a president.

As you say, manufacturing in the USA is simply not cost competitive. Who is going to buy a US made toaster for $200 when a Chinese one costs $25? Not everyone can afford artisan crafted products.

I totally understand how Trump would appeal to these people. His promise to bring jobs back was what they wanted to hear.

Watched an episode of Anthony Bourdain a few weeks ago which was focused on the City of Detroit.
I was stunned at the conditions they showed there in Detroit. Such a far cry from the muscle car era
and before that, but thats what Detroit means to me. Muscle cars, when that city was booming!!
Neighbourhood after neighbourhood was desolate and abandoned. Looked like the moon with
boarded up and abandoned homes and business's.
Nascar and the dragstrips were the birthplace for the street machines and really was the substance that
built Detroit City, Win on Sunday, sell on monday.

The Competition back in the 60's and 70's was fierce. Then cheaper japanese honda
motorcycles and motorcars were part of the reason for the death of the GIANT auto
industry in Detroit.
The other was the car insurance hikes for these 400 plus horsepower cars you could
buy at any dealership. People were getting killed hand over fist back in those days.
Not that it's really any different today.

Think about a simple HEMI, I mean a REAL hemi, folks, yes.............the Elephant motor.
