there is a sore coming up on the left side of my tough.

What's a tough? Are you trying to say tongue?

Without giving any health advice, I would suggest reading through the various threads in this section until the Health Nurse responds to your question. You will probably find the information you're asking for - or at least some of it - in the meantime. ;)

Even when HN responds, you should really make sure you're well informed if you're going to be engaging in any sexual activities (even with non sp's), so I would really suggest spending some time reading. There is really a lot of information right here and you'll find some links to HN's blog where all of it is conveniently available to read.

Hi knight882

It is difficult to diagnose conditions over the internet as I would need to do an exam as well as some testing. It is also important to know your medical history. What I can do is give you some suggestions on what could be going on as well as what to do next.

From what you have written it sounds like you are really stressed about HIV. It is very common for us to see this at the clinic. The reason I think people get stressed is because they read online that when you first get HIV you can get “flu like symptoms” 2-4 weeks after infection. They call this HIV seroconversion illness.

What I do at the clinic is explain to people that there are many common things that can cause “flu like” symptoms. This means not to focus on the symptoms too much but to think that I am concerned about a sexual risk I had and it would be a good idea to go for a HIV test.

As it has been 14 days since your first sexual encounter and you have a sore on your tongue I would recommend coming into one of our clinics or see a doctor if you are unable to get to one of the clinics.

It is common for people to feel embarrassed when seeing a health care person about sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing. Remember all your information is kept private and that it is a common reason why people go to the doctor.

It is great that you are using condoms. From the risk you described we do not really see HIV spreading from kissing, receiving a bbbj and vaginal sex with a condom. I have recommend testing as other STI can be pass with the sex you described.

If you would like to discuss anything in private just send me a private message.

I think another important thing to mention, is that if you do test positive for ANY STI's, you should inform both SP's.
went there and confronted with the sps, they claim that they are perfectly healthy and have test done on monthly basis. but... sigh,

Your words are like the light at the pitch black night. the fever and stomach pain are starting to go away but my throat is feeling a bit burning and i feel a groin node is acting up, through my reading i understand that the viral infection cannot arise that fast after a encounter. so i think i have some kind of bacteria infection now. I really hope that is the case since bacteria infection is mostly curable.

What is amazing about this website is that, it is like a double edged sword. It helped me for my dirty deeds and now it is servering as a powerful tool to clear my fragile mind. Thanks so much those who had input. I would still love any of your input either through reply the post or pm. many Thanks in advance.

Advise taken, pooning isn't for me. It is behind me now. And I just hope everything is still fine as before. I use to have flus but this time symptoms seems a little out of ordinary from my usual cases. Started taking cold fx now. Seems working a little. I had four test done and other than HIV all results has come back and all negative, but definitly need to follow up with more tests since the test was done only 3 days after the latest encounter. Also is HIV test takes longer than other test?don't know why it hasn't come back at the same time. Thanks again for all who replied. Best wishes to you all.

Hi knight882

It is great that you were able to get to a clinic.

The symptoms you are describing do not sound like they are caused by an STI, but it looks like you are really worried over what happened. It is very common for us to see this in the clinic and this stress can really affect peoples lives.

Like I said above we do not see HIV being transmitted from the sex that you described.

Don't worry about the HIV test being late as it is common for that one to come in last especially if you got the test from one of the Vancouver STI clinics.

The Vancouver clinics offer a HIV test for men that is 90% accurate by 2 weeks.

It would be worthwhile repeating the tests at two weeks.

It can be difficult waiting for the time to pass, I would suggest that you do not read anymore information from the internet about HIV symptoms. From my experience I find it just increases peoples anxiety.

It may be helpful to focus on activities you enjoy to pass the time.

Everyone has different levels of risk tolerance when it comes to sex. Here is a link to an article where we offer some suggestions.
