Hi Zoe

I am keeping my promise I made, just between you & me.

You had me wondering so I checked out the Capital city for Florida, it's Tallahassee! 250,000 people. In 1960 politicians tried to move the Capital to Orlando, but it was defeated.

Believe it or not I drove through Tallahassee when I was travelling across the U.S with a couple of buddies (at the tender age of 18). Tallahassee is located in N.W. Florida on the way west to Mississippi.

And remember, "Billy Jo McCallister dropped something off the Tallahassee bridge". I did not see that happen.

Any body know what it was?

Me thinks that might have been the " Talahatchee Bridge " and it was flowers. Then again I could be wrong on both accounts!!

We were stoned when we were travelling so it seemed like we had crossed a famous bridge at the time. We were wired till we made it to Baton Rouge. Then we got stiffed by some Louisiana boys on some wacky tabacky and
hi-tailed it all the way to Tijauna, where we were educated once again by some slick talking Mexicans.

Everything was a blurr for months after the trip.

That Mexican Donkey Shit can really screw you up.

lyrics and stuff:

In the song it was just "something" that "That nice young preacher Brother Taylor" said:

"..said he saw a girl that looked a lot like you up on Choctaw Ridge
And she and Billy Joe was throwing somethin' off the Tallahatchie Bridge."

In the movie it was a rag doll.

and as for the girl left behind:

"And me, I spend a lot of time pickin' flowers up on Choctaw Ridge,
And drop them into the muddy water off the Tallahatchie Bridge."

fun factoid off the above site:

When this became a hit, Rolling Stone magazine reported that it was only a 20 foot drop off the bridge and the water was deep enough so you would not get hurt. Of course, lots of people went to the bridge and jumped, which drove the local police nuts.
