I do not know about the rest of you, but yesterday I lost a ton of money. I expected to find some good discussuions and analyses on the topic here. But, it seems like most are burying their heads in the sand.

However, the good news is the DOW is up almost 98 right now. How about the Canadian markets, and the China market (ouch)?

I'm gonna blame the fact that the lefties didn't support the extension of the anti-terrorism law that they themselves put into place.

So, how many billion dollars of people's money did they wipe out?

Hey, that's that argument they used when the cons decided that income trusts shouldn't be allowed to take advantage of the tax loophole anymore.

SFMike Recommendations to park $??

SFMike you sound like a mkt player, where do you park your cash when you aren't in stock? Got any bluechip recommendations? Thinking about buying some Altria-MO, think it's a good buy esp. with the Kraft spinoff? Any value there? or is it already priced in?

Can I be the only one here who is aware of the 9% drop in the China index yesterday?

Peety: I try to stuff as much money as possible in the hands of the nearest lady. It is the only sure-fire return. I am unable to help with any stock tips as I do not buy them. I am more of an index fund investor, some cash in Treasuries. Index funds spread the risk over a whole sector and tend to beat the specific indexes year in and year out.

Not sure if these are available to Canadians, but Vanguard and Fidelity are liklely the two best with the lowert charges. Both are no-loads. That is a bonus.

Will be a LONG ROCKY ROAD

China will shakenrattle the world, be prepared. Whatever happens there will send aftershocks throughout, their mkts are soooo much more volatile, guess no matter how stable we "think" we are here it doesn't matter! I'm going to look more closely into index stuff, esp. b/c of yesterday.

big deal

So the TSX went south 400 points. big fuckin deal. The markets never go up in straight line anyways. Your loss is just a paper loss unless you sold yesterday. The TSX is still very high and is due for a decline. What happened yesterday is just a taste of what is going to happen. I predict the TSX will be at 11000 this x-mas and house prices in the GVRD will be -15%. The economy will slip into a recesion. Gold will be at $900.
