Aside from one minor event yesterday was by all accounts a great day.

Skied Sunshine.....the snow was AWESOME, it wasn't all that busy so I managed to get in a ton of vertical, could have been a little warmer but I'm not complaining. Also nice that I spent the day with an ex-GF who was in a great mood and more than a little amorous. Drove back to Calgary, stopped at my place where we both got cleaned up and changed and then headed out for dinner. Went downtown and weaseled my way into a table at the King and I without a reservation (every now and then it pays to know people) and had a great dinner! :p For any of your not familiar with the King and I its a Thai restaurant that IMO offers up a lot of yummy food.

We left the restaurant at ~11:30 and as we were walking back to my truck this young punk steps out from an unlit parkade, walks right in front of us and then says "give me your money!" I'm not about to hand over my cash to some dink so I tell him to fuck off, at which point he pulls out a knife. OK, I wasn't prepared for that but I still didn't have any intention of giving him my money. I tell the puke I need to get the wallet from my jacket and as I pull my hand out (sans wallet) I step towards him and give him a shot to his neck and wind pipe with my knuckles. He drops the knife and I take another shot to the side of his empty head. I must have connected pretty good as he falls back and is bitching and moaning about how his head hurt. I get him flipped over and onto his stomach and as I have my knee pressed into the back of his neck I tell the ex to call the cops.

The little turd is now whining and wants me to let him go. Fuck that noise, he's in for the duration. Cops show up rather quickly and take the fucker into custody and then tell me I need to go to the district HQ and complete my witness statement

Good on ya, Gravitas. Obviously you've got balls of steel. Serve the punk right.

So did the ex. throw in some action at the end of it all :D

Looks like the punk should have learned better target identification.

Has he tried to have you charged with assault yet? I had one try that when the police arrived. Security camera made it clear who needed training in how to actually use a weapon.

Awesome

I love hearing about punks that get a little of what they had coming to them.

Its many years ago now, yikes must be about 8 or 9 years ago, I was leaving the aquatic center about 9 or 9:30 PM after a swim, and 2 punks tried that same shit in the parking lot with me.
I think they were very surprised when they suddenly both found a whole new world of pain. :D

No better feeling than teaching a piece of shit a good lesson.
If we ever meet Gravitas, the first 4 rounds of drinks are on me for standing up and serving some justice....;)

Hold on a second. We all know that what Gravitas did was justified but was it the right thing to do?

We don't know if the guy on the street came from a broken home or was not encouraged by his parents to do better. What about the school he went to? Did the teachers spend the time to teach him that robbing at knife point is not acceptable behaviour and that if he has the urge to do so he should count to ten first?

The young lad may have been hungry and needed some money for a good meal at Earl's or Joey's. Not everyone likes the food being served at the Salvation Army (too much salt not enough herbs).

Where was the government when he was growing up? Did they provide his family with a large enough TV and did he have high speed or dial up?

So before we throw stones perhaps we should walk in another man's shoes?

And finally, if we really go back and take a serious look at his life you will probably decide that Gravitas did do the right thing but should have also kicked him in the nuts:p

If it's the same restaurant that's also in Edmonton, it's overrated. It lives on its rep as a past celebrity destination, all because Charlie Watts or whoever once took a piss there. Dunno about Calgary, but there are far better Thai places in E-Town.

I would have grabbed the arm that was holding the knife and broken it across my knee.

LMAO......for a moment I thought you were serious :D

I asked the cops about that and given they retrieved his knife (safe to say this asshole is on probation and two of the orders would be not to be in the possession of any weapons and keep the peace) and the statements provided I don't have any concerns re. a criminal charge. That said there is the potential for a civil claim if he can get a lawyer, judge, jury to believe I caused undue pain and suffering.

Yup, one and the same and also agree that its overrated and probably doesn't serve food thats all that authentic. That said they have a few dishes that I love (poppy shrimp, pandulas chicken, coconut prawns) and the rest of the menu isn't all that "scary". The ex isn't all that adventures when it comes to what she'll stick in her mouth  so King & I is safe. If you ever go back to the Edmonton location try to make it with a group of 6 or more and ask for the "Eric special". They'll ask a few questions about what you like/don't like, what you're prepared to spend per person and then put together a good spread.

Oh, it was tempting to do all sorts of stuff to the little bastard. I will say that while I didn't have my full weight on his neck I know I was pressing down hard enough that he wasn't going anywhere and I'm sure its going to be stiff for a while :)

To everyone who wished me well, thanks. In hindsight I probably wouldn't change anything I did but there is a bit of reality setting in. That said I know the situation could have ended differently and I'm lucky I didn't get hurt.

Gravitas, all I can say is I wish there were more people like you who could
send these little pricks the same message.
Isn't this what is lacking in our judicial system........DETERRANT?!

Way to go man and I am sure like you said there was a bit of reflecting
on the matter afterwards as to what could have happened.

Glad to hear you got the best of him though and nothing more worse
happened to you or the gal you had with ya!

Yup dick slap, it took Gravitas to show him that what he was doing
was wrong !:D

The best part of what you did, beyond the satisfaction of taking care of the punk yourself was that it is a better lesson for him not to do that kind of shit. He will carry what happened to him as a warning where it counts the most--in his f--ked up brain!

A couple of weeks ago there was a great story, from Hamilton I think. Two guys grabbed a 15 year old girl by her back pack and dragged her into an alley. What they didn't know was she had a black belt in karate. She f--ked both of them up pretty good, kicked one in the balls, broke the other guys nose, but they were able to run away. They were caught the same night.
You gotta just love stories like these !!:D

Now if only we could do something about irresponsible driving too!

Damn straight! Here's hoping the courts do something with the fuckups.

Forgot to ask. Did you get the "my hero" treatment from the ex?:D
Kind of......when we got back to my place we had a bottle of wine and sort of made out, went to my bedroom and she gave me a GREAT back and leg massage. As jokingly mentioned before (about what she sticks in her mouth) she's not keen on giving head, its also her time of the month so no trip to the honey pot which meant I needed to be happy with a handjob. While not as good as Saffire's jerking the night still wrapped up with a happy ending.

Thanks but I'd prefer to have my likeness printed on the Canadian $20 bill. Not only would that get rid of that fucking hag Queen Elizabeth but the $20 bill is the one most commonly circulated in this hobby (unless your hitrack :D and then its a fin) and think it would be kind of cool to have a chick ask for 10 "hifi's" for a half and half

Way to go Hifi

When I was 16 I took a beating at the hands of 3 guys and spent 2 weeks in the hospital. During this time I was givin some advice from one of the cops doing the investigation.....carry a weapon.....preferably a bat, but also carry a glove.....which I have done ever since. Six years ago I had a very similiar experience in the parkade across from the Whiskey in Calgary. A young puke with a mohawk hairdo looked at me with amazement when I reemerged from my car with the bat and demanded my wallet back. I swung that bat twice, I broke his wrist and knocked the wind out of him, then I called for help. A bouncer from the Whiskey ran over and the cops followed just a few minutes later. The evening culminated with 4 hrs. in the police station and a trip to court a month later.
The sense of satisfaction of retrieving what was mine has never left me :D
