Buy any "pay as you go" phone with cash. Usually they don't need any ID or credit check. Don't use debit or credit card. Give a fake name and address.

Get a cheap phone. $100-$150. Good enough to text with. Smallest plan available; like $10 for 100 texts a month; something like that. Then just buy the minutes down the road.

The whole point is to make sure your name isn't attached to any computer, in case they trace the number to your bank accounts.

I agree, but to a point.... it all depends on how you value your discretion.

On one hand, if it's just a matter of concealing your name from a provider, you could settle for the 'textme app' (or others) and there is a hair-slim to none chance that the provider could track you down, if she (or her handlers) decide to burn you later.

HOWEVER!... texting apps are not fool-proof. Because those who wrote the app could very easily burn you too, stealing your personal info off your phone. Or say in case the worse should ever happen to a provider, and when the cops investigate they search her phone and start going down the list of her last known clients. And depending on how bad they want to catch the guy, it's a matter of tracking those who run the app and getting the IP address from phone that uses the number they designated to the user of the app. A long-shot scenario, sure, but that's a chance up is on you in the end...

That's why I suggest spending a few hundred on a cheapest pay-as-u-go phone with cash, so that there would be ZERO chance the phone can be traced to you.
