Actually it's much much easier to kill someone with a car than with a gun.

I disagree, you might be able to kill only a couple of people with a car, even if you try to mow down some poor pedestrians (and likely they will hear you coming and may avoid you in time). But, you could walk into a shopping mall or movie theatre, and kill many more with an automatic rifle or pistol.

Remember the Beltway sniper a few years back. He killed several over a several week period, before getting caught. You wouldn't be able to do that with a car.

The devices ( a car and a gun ) and their general use are very different in nature. Cars are designed to transport. Poor example.

Just like a shotgun or hunting rifle are specific in their design. Whereas a handgun or automatic weapon intended use is against other people. The latter devices serves no purpose to the greater good of humanity.

The individual who entered this Church would have found any method to kill as it was a pre meditated act. If it wasn't a shotgun, it could have been a bomb, or a handgun, or a car or baseball bat.

A different way of looking at it

Here's the way I see it...

Shooting/hunting is hobby to a lot of people in this country. It might not make sense to you, but then I can't understand why anybody would want to strap 2 planks to his feet and slide down an icy mountain! Not that I'm a hunter either.

The purpose of banning guns is to save lives by preventing people from being shot (I assume - that's what everybody says). If we really wanna save lives shouldn't we start by banning the recreational activities that kill the most people?

So first, before we get to guns, we gotta ban snowmobiles, ATVs and motorcycles - those things kill WAYYYY more people than guns and as someone else stated "serve no purpose in society". Then we need to get to boats - tonnes of people drown in boating accidents every year.

Sooner or later we'd get to guns, skiing, skydiving and anything else dangerous; cause our motivation is to save lives.

Pretty soon our lives would be so fucking boring we have nothing left to do but off ourselves. But with no guns, how you gonna kill yourself? Beat yourself to death with a baseball bat? - Oh wait those things probably would have been banned too.
