Help with prices on PERM

I don't want to be a wanker here - but I don't get the price "code" on perb. I'm used to TERB (the Toronto version) where rates were just spelled out in normal terms - $150, for example. So, can someone send me the translator?

Like, what's $.04? Forty bucks? $.4 Four hundred?

I used TERB from the beginning, and can see where you're coming from.
$ is one hundred, $$ two hundred and so on.
$$.25 is two hundred twenty five.
I haven't seen $.04 used, if it was forty I would type .4 and $.4 is one hundred forty.
I'll leave it up to someone else to explain Jade Canoes.

We know it's a twenty, but the (Bill Reid sculpture on the back) reference would be lost on TERBites as well as Americans. (Then again, Yanks do call their $100 a Benjamin, but that's less esoteric than Jade Canoe.)

I've never understood why some guys use those stupid codes. When I post reviews, I just state the price in dollars. Does anybody seriously believe that LE is so dumb they can't figure it out?
