I want to get a new headphone that I will be using with my ipod/laptop when traveling/school. However; I am kinda confused by the wide variety and price range of different headphones. You see those 29.99 dollar ones in futureshop and 3,000.00 ones from ultrasone, those technical specification only confuses me more. I know this is probably not a good place to post question like this, but maybe someone can help me out here. The two main feature that i am looking for is performance and durability. I have searched on the net and the following ones seem to get alot of nice reviews and within my price range. Can someone give me some recommendation/suggestion ?

Shure E4C
Bose Comfort 2
Ultimate Ears super.fi 5 Pro White Earphones
Bang & Olufsen A8 Headphones

Those four are pretty much all within the same price range, any comment/opinion is appreciated...

I say buy these

Yah right :D :D

Looks like outta yout selection the Bose are the only ones that are full over the ear. IMO you'll get the best bass response from those type.

The ear bud style add portability, but seriously dump on the bass. For me about once CD's worth of music is all I can take before I gotta give my ears a rest.

I would still go with the in the ear style since it's just shit loads more convenient to carry around.

I havent kept up with the headphone scene since I'm still using my 7 yr old sennheisers to do my listening, which is really only monitoring and so on when I'm dikkin with Audition or Wave Lab.

By the way I know this is really no help but its a free bump. :)

I have the Bose. I only use them when I fly, as they are quite bulky in the case. The case protects them very well and I can fit my MP3 player inside the case also. If you want to use them to cancel just noise on a plane... well, I don't think anything can really do that. When you listen to music with them, they really work. I find I arrive at my destination less fatigued than I did with regular head phones.

But they are bulky in the case and I don't think you would need them if you were on a bus or quietly studing.

I'm not a rocket scientest on this topic, but they only cancel simple harmonics. If someone is talking or banging on something... actually it can make that more clear, as a lot of the background noise is cancelled out.

Bose makes something called a Triport that might work better unless you really need the noise cancellation.
