Hi Everyone,

I've been inactive for a long time now and haven't posted in a while so I do apologize for the help I'm requesting but I've lost all my data on my usb flash drive.

I went to clear my recycle bin with about 20 pics I was deleting and an error occurred and took my whole flash drive with it!

Any idea if I can get it back or am I totally hooped!

HH

Click on START, type "event viewer" in your search box. That should get it. Find out what happened when you lost the data, then google the event to see what you can do. And no matter what - do not save anything onto that flash drive in case you overwrite the data.

Thanks pokemon but again how do you do that? I don't want to sound like a computer illiterate but I tried that and nothing happened. I clicked on Start and went to RUN and then typed even viewer. Is that what you meant?

And yes I have not saved anything to that flash drive for that reason. I don't even want to remove it from my computer!

Thanks Guys,
I gave it a try and found the event viewer in the computer management folder but no luck. The last error listed was about 20 or 30 minutes after the disaster occurred.
That's 4 years of fun and research lost. However creepy it is, I'm sure others have the same archive of memories of all the beautiful women they've met and would like to meet.

I did.

I don't have a name but there is free software out there that you can use to recover deleted files.

I suspect that if you do some research and get the right software, you could likely get your information back.

Maybe some of the computer experts have some suggestions.

Probably the easiest thing is to go buy a recovery software that will hopefully retrieve your data. I feel for you because I have lost data before including some nice stashes of porn. I have not bought any such software lately so try going to some site like CNET or DOWNLOAD dot com, get software reviews and pick what might work.

Just curious what event viewer has to do with recovering data? Won't that just give him some kind of error message saying his data is lost, which is like, duh?

HH, if the data on that flash drive means that much to you, go here and download this recovery software. I tried it and it works like a dream: http://www.nucleustechnologies.com/

You can download a free trial which scans your pooched drive and tells you what it CAN recover. If you want to actually recover it, you pay for the software. Costs about $80 CAD but well worth it.

Can probably recover it with data recovery software as suggested above. PM me and I might be able to help.

heh. well i have a correction to make

these companies have to stop making products with so similar names.

i am home now and for some reason checked the app i used. its not get getbackdata
but get data back by runtime software.

http://www.runtime.org/

they have lotsa nice apps. if your RAID goes south they can recover from that. tho i have to stop playing so many mmorpg :) my first thing that comes to mind when one says raid is in regards to those games :)
you will only get it if you play those games :)

the runtime software app is the one i used. it was an external USB drive that was toast. being an external drive i only used it for backups. so i was crushed when it died. all the original files were on that drive and only that drive. sure there was >some< porn :) but mainly pics and memories and lotsa rare and hard to get music vids.

the runtime app recovered everything.
