fire up nero and select nero burning rom on the left side

scroll down to audio cd, double clik it and select new

on the right is your HDD's with the music you want to burn. Navigate to the folder with the music files.

Dreag them to the left side where the bar at the bottom will indicate the time in min you have on cd. Stay under 80min even under 75min.

Once you have dragged the songs over to the left pane , go up to the tool bars and select recorder and select burn compilation.

A new window open with some options. Don't worry about any of the tabs except the burn one.

Select disc at once and under action de-select determine max speed and simulation.

click burn in the upper right.

enjoy your new music cd.

if that didn't work. Something else is fukked with your comp.

You may just have to finalize the CD. If you didn't finalize it, it won't play in your cd player.

A few things

1) what kind of media are you using? Not all CD-Rom or CD players like all the media out there

2) what speed are you using? At high burn rates and with the use of low grade media, the disc has info but because it's reflectivity is not high enough, sometimes machines have a hard time reading the disc

3) did you close the disc? You might have it on multi-session which basic CD-players don't like too much

4) what type of files did you burn MP3 or WAV files? If you burnt MP3 files and created an MP3 disc, only MP3 players will play it. If you used WAV files or you selected "create audio CD" and used MP3 files, then you should have created a standard audio CD

5) stay away from 80 min capacity (even if your media is rated at that) 74 min capacity is more universally accepted for all of the readers out there.

6) Don't use drag and drop authoring. In Nero if you use the wizard to create the CD then use:
- create CD
- compile new CD
- audio CD
- finish

then find all of the song files you want to burn onto the disc and drag them to the authoring column, then click the burn "opens the write CD dialog" button, then select a slower burn speed (I find 4-6x speed is generally reliable no matter what burner you are using), place an empty disc in the burner drive and then follow the rest of the instructions.

In theory this should basically create the audio CD using the least complicated steps

This is why i use Musicmatch to creat my CDs.

Its just so much easier to use than all the other software designed to burn CDs. My 2cents. --- Kev

all the programs take a long time to encode a DVD. Nero isn't any slower. You are talking about GB of data that has to be changed into IFO files.

I've tried all kinds of DVD authoring programs. Ulead DVD factory was the most powerful and easiest to use consumer grade authoring suite that I have run into but it will also take about 6 hours with a P4 to encode and burn the disc.

I find DVD Shrink to be the best available, plus its free. About 30 minutes to encode and the same to write. I have burned 20-30 DVD in the last 45 days or so, just lost 1.

I believe that this individual is talking about pure encoding of IFO files from MPEG not ripping from CSS encoded DVD content.

Once the CSS encrypted content has been ripped using DVD decrypter, you can shrink it using DVD Shrink, Instant DVD or DVD X Copy. If the content is DVD-5, it does not need to be encoded again for DVD burning. Only if it is DVD-9 content, then you will need to compress the files more to fit a standard DVD-R blank.

I have found DVD shrink to be rather inconsistent on quality of shrinking. In experiments, I lost 1 out of 2 projects.

Instant DVD and DVD X Copy Platinum will do a much better job consistency wise, but take a long time (instant DVD is the longest) and DVD X Copy will inject a front page denoting that the copy is a DVD Backup.

My recommendation is to use DVD Decrypter to decode the content and remove region coding, then if it is DVD-5, go direct to use Nero. If it requires shrinking then use instant DVD for consistent but "backup" notice free backing up.

What version of the program are you using? I typically use Nero for everything from CD's to VCD's to DVD's and it is very simple to use for all of them. If you have the newer versions of Nero that come with "Nero Express" it is even easier. Just drag and drop. Haven't burnt a coaster with it in more than 2 years.....and I burn LOTS! If you haven't figured it our yet, let me know, I'll walk you through it if you'd like.

I can probably score a new copy of the program with the serial number for ya too.......but you didn't hear that from me! :)
