Hi All

We stopped answering questions in the PERB health information forum last September when we started our new website at www.smartsexresource.com

I just wanted to see how people feel about the new website.

Do people feel comfortable going to this site to ask questions, leave comments or look for information?

What do you think about the quality of the information?

Let me know what you think?

Thanks

I regularly read your posts here on PERB. I've never bothered to visit the new site since you left.
What he said. It's basically out of sight out of mind in my case. If I see the posts here and the title interests me I will open it but I have never gone looking for your site.

My commet about the same as PG
I visited it once to see what was there
But with out it being in sin view here it is forgoten about

I all ways thought it was a very important addision to this board

It remind use of what potentual dsngers were out tbere..and how to be safe
It reminded every one to bevigulent and see a doctor when problem arise
All so to get regular testing

Now that is here as a reminder and the health issues are seldom talked about
You are still need here inbeded in the cammunity

I think a lot of members here will go have a read on the forums here, just cause they are here and they notice a new thread or whatever.
Sometimes you learn something new, or interesting.

To actually go to a webpage just for that, the member would have to have a specific question/problem to address.

Having a pressents in the communities that use and need your servies is the most important out reach you csn do
The sex trade.. the gay and lesbians sites and any boards that are used by young adults .. social media and even adult dating sites accutually need this type of information on their board so it is readily avalabke and
easy to ask questions on its is a lot easyer when you are in your own social groups

I suppose that it is all about what your mission is. If your goal is outreach - then you need to be in the communities that you are reaching out to.

If your goal is to be an online resource, then you are merely adding to all of the other online resources available to a quick google search.

I too thought that you were a valuable addition to the board, and to community health in general.

If there were specific questions that needed asking I would be willing to go to your site to ask them, but as of yet there hasn't been, so I am yet to visit. I did however learn lots of interesting facts from your posts here while you were around.

I generally don't spend a lot of time just browsing the web. I have some sites I visit regularly (like this one) where I look at what new things have been posted then I go do something else. Set in my ways you might say.

When things were posted here it was in front of my nose as a new post & curiosity would lure me into the health forum. Now, out of sight, out of mind.
Agreed. People come to PERB because they're feeling horny. Then they read a post by HealthNurse and they still feel horny, but a little more informed.

I'm not going to go out of my way to visit a website on STIs unless... well something is really wrong.

Agreed... if outreach is your mission, you were doing a fantastic job posting on PERB. I miss it.

I think I have been to your new site about five times. Mainly for reading out of interest.

Really it was more convenient for myself having you resident here on Perb. I sort of have to remind myself to go check out the smartsexresource website even though I bookmarked it.

I have not visited it but used to regularly read your posts in Perb. So a loss, which I regret, but you know, once signed on it to PERB it is just that extra step. However, there must be a lot of people who need the advice and don't know about PERB, so if you were exclusively PERB that would be a loss to some of the community?

Thanks for all your replies.

It really shows that there was so much more value when we had the health forum and people could see the discussions taking place. I can see that out of sight is out of mind.

I will pass this information on to our internet team.

Thanks

I'm in agreement with the others. I checked out your website when you announced your move but never went back. I think I would visit it if I ever have health concerns of my own as a precursor to seeing my physician but fortunately have not been in that position.

I would see others post health questions in which I may have been able to offer elementary advice and would chime in, but ultimately not go out of my way to go to a website to do so. Obviously there's a danger about untrained professionals answering health related questions but arguably some of the questions could have easily been answered by anyone who has a fundamental understanding of safe sex practices.

Thats exactly it for me. If the info isn't on this site than its a google search and I'm probably going to click the Mayo Clinic site or some other such major player. A small obscure site gets lost in the vast google ocean.
