I have this friend..........Hahahah!!!!!! Okay lets be serious.

A few colleagues and myself were having lunch and the topic came up of men and the mid life crisis. The question was. How do you know if your going through a mid life crisis?

Well the old cliches came up. Its when you want to buy a Porsche, or dump your wife for a younger women. There has to be more to it than that. There are many men and women of all ages who would buy a Porsche if they could afford it, and i know married men in the early 20s who want younger women. Being with a younger women is very subjective of course. If hes 90 and shes 60 shes a younger women. I know it has something to do with recapturing your youth or fear of getting old. But what else is there?

Besides the old cliches can anyone tell me what are the key ingredients are in recognizing when your going through a mid life crisis. So i can tell my friend;)....Heheh!!! --- Kev

It is the feeling of despair when 'reality' hits home...

That 'midlife' is not something that happens in your late 40s or 50s.

Midlife is between age 30 - 40 (most men die between 60 -80)

The crisis is the wave of feelings when this reality sinks in... and that you probably only have 10 - 20 years of life left... if even that.

People I know who are in the mid life thing seem to often complain about things they could once do...

how much they could eat

how little sleep they could get by on

amount of partying

can't stand that friggen heavy metal music anymore

just drive the car/truck the friggen way it is, and forget fancy tires, lowering it, boom stereo, etc...

a pair of runners last you about 2yrs since you only wear them on weekends.

Still lost in the '60s
I figured I was well into mine the year that I quit my long-time job and separated from my long-time wife.

Hey I am well qualified to answer this midlife crisis question.
According to your theory, I will out live those guys as above. Right now I am nearly fifty,I still feel young, and happy. Most people thought I was in my 30s.

My secrete to conquer this midlife crisis is happy in my heart, always cheerful about life!:p :p :p

Hey Kev you met me twice,do I look 50s to you?????

mid-life: you go to more funerals than weddings.

mid-life crisis: you start getting laid more often at funerals than weddings.

mid-life critical: you can't wait for more of your friends to die!

In a nice wet pussy!
After years of denial, you finally realize that the woman you are with is really not the one you fell for in your twenties. So, you screw up your courage and walk, or continue to uphold and perpetuate the mundane status quo.

Men stop aging at twenty. Sadly, women continue to do so. Therein lies the paradox. Yes, we're immature, but we have to live with it and make adjustments along the way.

Mid-Life Crisis

I don't regret the path I've chosen, good, bad, or otherwise. Some choices I've made work wise could have been made differently but otherwise what's done is done.

I define Mid-Life Crisis from a term a friend once told me. He referred to them as Mortal Days.

I had MY first Mortal Day early this year. It was a day when I felt like I was going to die soon. I wasn't ill, just sore and achey. I've never been sore like that. I felt that if I didn't change my lifestyle then I was doomed. I realized that everything I do to my body can no longer be healed as quickly or as well as it did when I was younger. I am in fact mortal. That I worried about it at all told me something too.

As far as the Porche, a waste of money.

At the "Y"
My X wife accused me of having a mid-life crisis....that was just after she changed her wardrobe, bought a sports car, went to Mexico with her girlfriend and left me for another guy.

Call me crazy, but I'm pretty sure I fucked up MY mid-life crisis somewhere there honey.
