I had a Thai provider turn me down once. This was in Asia where I was booking through an agency website so the majority of the clients were Chinese.

She seemed a bit surprised to discover that her client was caucasian, and she got very hesitant about carry on with the booking. So she contacted the agent and had a different provider sent over. I agree, but with the proviso that the SP in question needs to ask these kinds of questions prior to booking If she has some things she wants to avoid, like older guys etc.... That's fine if she's up front about it. But deciding that she just thinks you "look too old" after you've booked, perhaps paid a deposit, taken the time to see her etc... just isn't professional.

Having said that if the girl just gets a bad vibe from a guy who walks through the door and doesn't feel safe for any reason, then she should absolutely refuse service and send him on his way. Perhaps that is the reality of what happened in the OP's example.
