I have been on workmans comp the last 6 weeks, and decided to grow the biggest moustache I could.
Its huge, gets in my mouth when I talk or eat.
I knew there was a reason I did this.

I myself am growing a moustache for Movember.....and this have sex with a guy with a moustache might just be real....during work today I was picking up a delivery...got 5 steps from my truck and met the gaze of a pretty young blonde gal far younger than me...I smiled and so did she...a nice instant connection based on attraction....I get 10steps past her and turn to do the double take to catch her doing it before me LOL....I am so kicking myself for not flirting with her.

My son asked me to do Movember as well, so I have this handlebar thing going on.
It's apparently good for maintaining celibacy.

well maybe REAL women sleep with REAL men with facial hair phase (goatee, mooustache, soul patch, etc)... or maybe it is a personal prefence... likewise i've done the whole facial hair thing for ten years, time for a chance for me for the time being, "clean cut and i like to throw them one two wild uppercuts..."

oh ya just to add-on here, does the hilter mooustache count at all? i keep on seeing this dude on the skytrain and i keep thinking to myself, "why guy, what drives you do grow out the hilter stache?"

I've had one since birth (fresh out of the packing grease), not planning on getting rid of it, plus it acts like a great french tickler.

And how does a mustache raise awareness for cancer? Let alone sleeping with a guy with a mustache.

First of all, I'm not sure where you've been if you've never even heard of this but I did include the link in case anyone wasn't aware or was just curious.

Rule #1 to avoid looking like an idiot:

Take 2 minutes to actually read the post, watch the video & make use of link(s) provided BEFORE you comment on a thread with irrelevant drivel because you have no clue what it's really about.

(This applies to all threads, all topics and all people who comment on things they're clueless about. Thank you kindly. :) )

The Mo, slang for moustache, and November come together each year for Movember.

Movember challenges men to change their appearance and the face of men’s health by growing a moustache. The rules are simple, start Movember 1st clean-shaven and then grow a moustache for the entire month. The moustache becomes the ribbon for men’s health, the means by which awareness and funds are raised for prostate cancer. Much like the commitment to run or walk for charity, the men of Movember commit to growing a moustache for 30 days.

The idea for Movember was sparked in 2003 over a few beers in Melbourne, Australia. The plan was simple – to bring the moustache back as a bit of a joke and do something for men’s health. No money was raised in 2003, but the guys behind the Mo realized the potential a moustache had in generating conversations about men’s health. Inspired by the women around them and all they had done for breast cancer, the Mo Bros set themselves on a course to create a global men’s health movement.

In 2004 the campaign evolved and focused on raising awareness and funds for the number one cancer affecting men – prostate cancer. 432 Mo Bros joined the movement that year, raising $55,000 for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia - representing the single largest donation they had ever received.

The Movember moustache has continued to grow year after year, expanding to Canada, the US, UK, New Zealand, Ireland, Spain, South Africa, the Netherlands and Finland.

In 2009, global participation of Mo Bros and Mo Sistas climbed to 255,755, with over one million donors raising $47 Million for Movember’s global beneficiary partners. We are proud to announce that last year’s Canadian campaign was the second largest in the world behind Australia, with 35,156 Mo Bros and Mo Sistas coming together to raise $7.8 million for Prostate Cancer Canada.

The funds raised through Movember’s Canadian campaign go directly to Prostate Cancer Canada which enables them to fund vital research that will led to better screening tests and treatment options and to run support services for men surviving prostate cancer.

The other significant outcome of the Movember campaign is the awareness of prostate cancer and our men’s health messages we are collectively generating. Men of all ages are not only listening, they are acting on this messaging and taking positive action with their own health, diet, exercise and lifestyle. We recently surveyed the Movember community and found that because of their involvement in Movember, 39% of the Mo Bros sought medical advice, whilst a further 36% encouraged someone else to seek medical advice.

The success of Movember can be directly attributed to the more than 627,000 Mo Bros and Mo Sistas who have supported our cause since 2003. Movember is sincerely grateful for their efforts and appreciate all they do.

From the FAQ's

I already have a Moustache - how can I participate?

If you already have a Moustache you can do a ‘reverse Movember’ and have people donate to you to shave it off. Alternatively, you could shave off your moustache at the start of Movember and then re-grow your Mo throughout the month…. Maybe it’s time to try a new Mo style?

Are goatees or beards allowed?

The definition of a Moustache:
1. There is to be no joining of the Mo to side burns – That’s a beard.
2. There is to be no joining of the handlebars – That’s a goatee.
3. A small complimentary growth under the bottom lip is allowed (aka a tickler).

Remember, it’s Movember, not ‘Beardvember’ or ‘Goateevember’

City Renames Month to Movember Officially

The Mayor of Fort St. John, in the northeast region of British Columbia (also known as "The Energetic City") has proclaimed the month of November to be renamed Movember! Backed by Mo Bro Brent Hodson , Councillor Bolin, and the City Council, the entire city of Fort St. John will be supporting Movember 2010. Check out the blog HERE.

We like what Councillor Bolin had to say- "Grow a Mo to save a Bro!"

The Gentlemen of the NHL

Hockey players have long been known for their fine dress and manners off the ice and their speed and toughness on, and now, in 2010, a certain bit of luxury has followed them onto the ice…all in honor of Movember. Not since the days of the bell-bottom and disco have there been so many hairy upper lips present in rinks across the NHL….until now. For Movember 2010 close to 150 NHLers across 14 teams, both Canadian and US, have signed on the dotted line to grow their little bit of luxury and help change the face of men’s health.

Thanks for the info about the history of Movember Miss Bijou, and I am surprised that the other users man-up on here to give a history lesson about it like what you did. I did grew out a moustache till week three, but got a sh**load of bad looks (I am not seriously kidding you) on transit ride to and from work. I know I broke the rule to not shave it off, but I enjoy the clean-cut looks. Besides I again had grew out facial hairs for a decade and again, time for change for me...
