A better whiskey should be savoured with perhaps neat, a splash of water or even an ice cube.
Lately I have found a Cask Strength Whisky called A'bunadh. It's a mouthful to say when sober, try to say it when you have had a couple of wee drams.

As I understand it, water doesnt do much for a normal 43% whiskey but dilute it. But with a cask-strength (around 60%) high quality malt like the A'bunadh, a little water and the warmth of your hand sets up a wee microdistillery in your glass, releasing all kinds of wonderful aromas!
