At first I thought this might be an easy answer, but costuming involves the mind too and if it's just cosmetic it might not be as fun. I'd prefer the escort have a costume already -- better chance of her wanting to be in character more.

Totally agree with this statement.
Take schoolgirl look for example, do a little role play where the sp is a student needing help with homework with a "tutor", however since she's young, innocent and curious, she decides to satisfy her "curiosity" with the older tutor!

Showing up at her door with a costume in hand just wouldn't go as smoothly in my opinion.
