Halle Berry Ordered to Pay $16K a Month in Child Support

"Superior Court Judge Scott Gordon approved the agreement, which calls for the Oscar-winning actress to pay $16,000 a month to her ex-boyfriend, or nearly $200,000 a year. This is in effect until Nahla turns 19 or graduates from high school, whichever comes first.

Berry, 47, will cover their daughter's school tuition (estimated at $30,000 a year), but she and Aubry, 38, will split health care expenses. Berry must also pay the Canadian model a retroactive payment of $115,000 and $300,000 to his attorneys to cover the costs of their custody dispute.

The actress gave birth to Nahla Ariela Aubry is March 2008 and claims the maturity she's gained with age has made her more equipped for motherhood.y

During an interview on German chat show Wetten dass...? on Saturday, she said: 'I'm a much better mother at 46... than if I were like, 21 or 25.

'[At that age] I was just a little baby just trying to figure out who I was, let alone having the responsibility of trying to help another little soul develop and grow. I'm so glad I waited.'

"The 47-year-old actress - who already has daughter Nahla from a previous relationship with Gabriel Aubry - admitted she was dumbfounded when she and now husband Olivier Martinez found out she was expecting because she had been feeling 'premenopausal' and didn't think she could conceive.

Halle told chat show host Ellen DeGeneres in a new episode airing on Tuesday: 'They call it a geriatric pregnancy,' before adding: 'I was, you know, on my way…this is probably way TMI, but I was really, you know, kinda premenopausal so to have this happen was a huge [shock].'

When Ellen said, 'It's a miracle,' Halle replied, 'Only her prayers could have done this. I didn’t think it was possible at my age, honestly.'

We have some ladies on this board who are around this vintage and still looking pretty good.

But $16,000 per month child support... that is inane, even if Halle Berry has the money. If that money gets spent on Nahla, then she is one spoiled child. Better that the bulk of it be invested... or used to support hundreds/thousands of children living in poverty.

The legal system bases the amount paid for child support on a person's net worth. $16k isn't out of line. How do you know the money isn't also invested in a trust for the kid? Child support goes beyond the daily food, clothing, shelter expenses.
