Another charity is Shelterbox . Basically they are a British (yes, there is a Canadian branch) organization who provide a reusable plastic box containing:

A tent made by Vango with groundsheet and bedding for 10 people for 6 months. Cooking facilities,food, plates, knives etc for 10, some paper and writing tools, crayons for kids etc. A full box content list can be found here: http://shelterbox.org/about.php?page=9


Virgin Airlines are shipping these boxes free of charge and many hundreds are already on the ground in Haiti.


I got together with some friends and last week we donated $1000 to shelterbox.ca which is the cost of one box... Of all the things these folk need, after medical assistance a 'home' must be next.
